Winuae Setting for 2 players (North and South)
Ok, so I bought recently a Competition Pro with USB for my Winuae.
I know how to make it work, but I have problems on making a 2 player setting on Winuae (with 1 keyboard player and 1 joystick player). (On Game & I/O ports: Putting keyboard and joystick on port 0 and port 1 makes either keyboard or joystick somehow unrecognizable.) For me this situation is especially complicated on the game North and South as the button to change between the infantery, cavallery and the boomer guys is uhm... "missing". So... because of that I can only play with the boomers on that game... So please, I hope somebody can me! |

I'm sorry mate, I'm not familiar with North & South.
Can you confirm if two player works on any other game? |

Speedball 2 for example does actually work on 2 player mode. Swiv does more or less... one of the ports gets nuts then somehow (The Jeep on that game reacts on the controlling a bit but he also does what he wants).
But on N. and S. Problem is: Well one of the Ports does work. But The other Port on the other hand (may it be Competition Pro or Keyboard) gets actually recognized... but its uncontrollable. As the mouse cursor does only shake a bit around if you make a move with the controller/keyboard. Last edited by Zapp_Brannigan; 13 October 2007 at 00:21. |

I solved this multiplayer problem with North and South now... more or less.
For multiplayer, the problem in general is that the games dont like a different setting on the buttons configuration (on the Input section), so it has to stay on the already set "Compatibility Mode". Also North & South doesnt like the "Keyboard layout B" (on Game and I/O ports)... now if I put another keyboard layout, that setting wont work too. But the cursor keys and the space button get (lets say) "free" and playable so that they work at the end now. I have the joystick on Port 1. Port 1 is doing its "job" fine. Port 0 on the other hand is giving me yet another problem: North and South is now playable with 2 persons, but the joystick has to be on the Port 1, it wont work on Port 0. Port 0 with the keyboard layout A works... but he only accepts either the moving or the shooting buttons. That means you can only shoot or move around - but not both things at the same time. With this game you normally can do both! (As it can be seen on port 1 as, the joystick can do both things.) Aah.... this is confusing. |

There is nothing wrong with emulation. Remember that you can't really play N&S without keyboard and keyboard joystick emulation's firebutton-key overrides that key you need..
