A530 with external scsi

Hi all -

I own a A500 with a GVP A530 and the HD died. I took a gamble and bought a SCM PCD-50B drive that has the right connectors, but is just a bit too big to fit in the case. I am thinking about attaching it via the external scsi connector on the back, but I have two questions. Which adapter should I buy and has anyone else done a similar setup.

Well, I am closer.

I flipped the scsi card reader upside down and I'm leaving the case covering but unconnected. Now when I run fast prep, it sees the card as a 20 mb cf which is correct (a test cf obviously), but when I format it, it closes to the desktop asking for workbench. Going back into fastprep, it shows it as unformatted.

Don't bother with FastPrep - it's lousy. Good ol' HDToolbox (set to use gvpscsi.device) should do the trick.

For external mounting, the 530 uses a standard 25-pin SCSI port, if I recall. A vintage SCSI enclosure (with Centronics connectors) and a 25-pin to Centronics cable should be all you need.
