For example if everyone that uses this resource donated £10 each to eab "AT" grandis.nu then the speed is increased and cost doesn't go on you... |

To be honest, I've gotten 3 donations since I setup that paypal email adress, so I do not rely on it. I do have a seperate bank account for it even, dedicated to server/ISP costs, heh.
I want to order new disks again so that I do not have to move them over from the old server, prolonging the downtime. My goal is to have both servers up and running at the same time so its just a firewall change needed once I'm ready to move over. That is basically the funds I need but the 3 people who already donated for the "new" disks I got 6 months ago should not have to do it again. I'll add those disks as well to the new server once the old is decommissioned though. As for the rest of the hardware, I'll pay for that =) In other words, I'd gladly take some donations now (Paypal: eab at grandis dot nu) but it is in no way required. And DamienD, you are barred from donating again, considering the size of your last one, hehe. Edit: Plus, there is no rush. Nobody here at EAB is demanding 10GBit speeds. Its me who wants that =) Last edited by Turran; 11 April 2018 at 14:16. |

Heya synchro,
You don't need to pay me... Are you saying you're after some of the .HDFs that I've created; which ones exactly? A small few are on the "EAB File Server" under ~Uploads/DamienD/HDFs but not that many at all... ...or you could just download my full project; see here: DamienD's WinUAE Collection |

Yes Turran is the kind person that hosts the "EAB File Server" for all to use free and is constantly adding features / new hardware improvements.
Best to donate to him: eab "AT" grandis.nu ...and if you want my collection then send me a PM. |

Thanks guys! New disks are on their way. We're going from a 4TB Raid1 array to an 8TB Raid10 array, so we'll have plenty more space on a brand new server soon. Yes, its hardware raid. The new raid card is SATA6 instead of SATA-II in the old server so we'll get a bump in speed there as well.
I wont touch the old server for a while to make sure the new one is stable but once we're happy with it, I'll move over the "old-new" disks to the new server as well. What is your username on the FTP? Can't seem to find you =) Last edited by Turran; 12 April 2018 at 11:51. |

Great news.
I didn't realize your old array was so small. Good progress then. I am a casual user of your ftp. Mostly to get updates to TOSEC from time to time and check latest WHDLoad maybe once a month. You DO need to clean the structure up a bit btw I think. I hope I will be able to send some euros your way some time, but I suspect you know how things are in Greece nowadays. |

It was kind of a mess already when I took over hosting it. I would not know what to put where as I don't know what 99% of the stuff is basically, so I've been trying to find someone taking on the job of cleaning it up but so far, nothing constructive has come of it.
I did make an attempt about a year or two ago to clean up the Uploads folders by only allowing the uploader to see their own upload folder. They could upload what they wanted and then let a moderator know so it could be moved to its correct place, but there was an uproar about that so I had to revert it =) Anyway, since then I have more or less decided that I host it and provide everything around it, but I try to not mess with the contents of it. |
