Need suggestions for backgrounds from Amiga games (more info inside)
I need one background that looks great, must be from an Amiga game. I will place Simon the Sorcerer on it, so it need to be horizontal (ofc) and side view. The backgrounds in Simon the Sorcerer are beautiful and I would love to use one of them, but can't, because like with most adventure games, they are too small vertically where the inventory takes up a big part of the screen.
So, I'm looking for a nice background for Simon, that takes up the whole screen, doesn't have to be from an adventure game, but those are the ones that looks best. So, do anyone know of a nice background that covers the whole screen? No future, alien, hi-tech stuff, it doesn't really go together with Simon Thanks in advance. Personal status update: Been looking through alot of adv games, all have the same screen size (too small). Thought about Ivanhoe, there's a nice forest back there, but same thing with that game, too small. Just checked Defender of the Crown, some nice inside-castle-backgrounds, but they are all dark, and wouldn't look right. I don't want to make Simon darker, need him the way he is. Normally adventure games have this size on the background:
Which is too small. I need more this size (minimum): 400 pixels high, that will do, too bad it's a tad dark and doesn't have that many colors... but will take the best one I can find by the end of the day... |

Ah, nice one. Could be perfect. It's high as hell and also have scrolling so I can combine to one wide picture .
Hmm, just because of this I came to think of the Body Blows games.. very nice scrolling backs there too... Thanks, will check these games out... will probably be all I need. |

Hmmm, could place him in the back instead, then he doesn't look too small to everything else.... well, yes he do, to the girl.. hmm. maybe the stage is wide enough to the right so I can leave her outside the screen (sad).

No, don't think so. He looks too small for the scenery in that game.
He looks ok in your pics, but that's because he's in double pixel size, while the back is in original. Both must have the same pixel depth. I never mix them. |

But that game has other more suitable backs. He looks better in this one:
But need to download the game and get there to take the screenshot, specially if it scrolls so I can gather the gfx outside the viewing area. |

Does the game scroll at this place?, or is it one of those where the screen is fixed, and the next part comes when you exit this screen?
Guess I can download the longplay and check. Ok, great, it scrolls. Will take about 20 mins to get there. But it's different layers, so have to cut them out and make my own. Will be nice. Mission accomplished. Thanks for the help, s2325 |
