A1200 PCMCIA CF Flash drive help? Not seen
Hi there, really having no luck with my Amiga
I brought a second hand Amiga CF PCMCIA 4gb kit (AmigaKit with ADAPCMCFL) to check my second amiga PCMCIA slot works (3Com internet) I booted from the floppy disk in my first amiga (PCMCIA does work) and it does not see the 4gb drive I checked it worked in my PC, formatted it Fat32 in windows XP and it seems fine. What am I missing, if I try to format it using Prepcard, it says it's write protected. Should the drive come up as CF0? I found a Windows 8 machine and used DiskPart to clean it. What tools in Amiga should see this drive? Last edited by burf2000; 29 August 2015 at 19:20. |

HDToolbox may see it if you change the scsi_device_name = scsi.device to compactflash.device.
Prepcard wont work for CF cards it's for SRam cards. Once the floppy has booted open a shell (if it has shell on it, I can't remember) and type info, this will show all mounted drives, The one you're looking for is CF0: |

How do I change the device name> is it setting in the program?
If I want to transfer files from PC to Amiga, what should I format the CF? Fat32? Last edited by burf2000; 30 August 2015 at 10:27. |

Have you got CFD (http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/cfd) and fat95 (http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/fat95) installed? without them it will never be seen on the pcmcia port.
If you have you might have a CF card that is only recognised on the IDE port and if that is the case all you can do is find a card which does work on the pcmcia port. Drives usually appear as CF0: and they should be fat32 formatted (fat16 might work not sure). |

If you have a serial port on your PC then you can use AExplorer and a null modem cable.

Regarding your first post. Have you added CardPatch and CardReset to your Startup-Sequence? They should be in your first lines. You'll find them on Aminet. |

I wonder if you can install OS3.9 from CF?
I managed to fix all my amiga issues now except the floppy drive and I just need to switch motherboards for that, boy has it been a long ride! |

@burf2000
You can make an ISO file of your OS3.9, copy it to your CF and then use ISOMOUNT to mount it and install it as if it was a real CD. http://aminet.net/package/util/rexx/isomount124 |

BlizKick does the job if it comes to speeding it a little bit more. I also use new icon.library, new scsi.device etc, and a little bit more tinkering and it's much faster than OS3.9 But it's all a matter of preference. |

I am not sure what I want to do with my Amiga's it was nice to get the main one on the internet to be honest
I need to probably go read up on whats recommended. I used to write a lot of games in Amos, now I do iOS. I am guessing I use it for mainly gaming. Oh I also like playing music on it, some old mod's are awesome. Saying that I never found 1 player that played them all, had to use a few |
