Vulcan Software online :)
Hi All
OK, this is good news, Vulcan Software have started to put all their old Amiga games online to download. At the moment you can download the Valhalla speech adventure series and Timekeepers, so if you are interested get over there now and get downloading. http://www.vulcan.co.uk Follow the floppy disk icon a t the bottom of the screen. |

Yeah...
This is great news. It's nice to see all the great old developers legalising the distribution... so now everyone can see the old classics
Nice looking site, too... |

Has anybody got Valhalla & The Lord Of Infinity to work with Winfellow or WinUAE as I find it locks up my whole machine?
Or, does it only run on real Amigas? If anyone has got it to work in emulation, would you please post your config. Thanks |

The disk version I have runs fine on my standard A500 setup under WinUAE 8.14r3. The only note I took to get the game started was to make sure to have enabled "Emulate sound 100%"

As their HD versions crash I thought......."what is the PC version of Valhalla like?".
So I looked round the site some more and found out I need to download the Vulcan-Portal, which I did. After a long wait it started up and Ahhhhh It started speaking to me....very creepy :eek. Next I tried to request Valhalla...damn I need to register...so I did. After I got my free Registration details I tried again. So I reloaded the Portal which said "Good afternoon Paul" then tried to request Valhalla which next said Quote:
Anyway I hope this is not the Future way of buying computer games as I want the full game and do not want to buy in episodes. |

Judging by the online manuals that come with each game, and by the dates of all the files, I'd say these games were directly taken from Vulcan's Vulcanology CD that they released back in '98 or somewhere around that time.
I'm surprised by your experience Paul! I was thinking about getting the Valhalla PC games soon. If this happens to everyone I'm not sure if I should even consider bothering with them. |

Vulcanic era
I have missed the whole Vulcan period on Amiga for the simple reason I was switching to PC those days. I have peeked to reviews of their games in magazines throughout the years and they seem to be generally good. Their games have all a distinct graphical-feeling, though. I don't know whether I like it.

Well the Vulcan-Portal and the free episode 1 works fine now.
It is a shame I can not play the game in full screen mode, anyway here is a pic of the game in action. Attachment Removed Last edited by Ian; 29 December 2001 at 20:08. |
