Question

I'm sure I've seen that screen only recently somewhere, was it Emu U.K., perhaps? It was Lucasrts "tribuite" to Sierra's death sequences in their adventure games, with Guybrush making a remarkable recovery & not actaully dying!

Its from MI1, on monkey island, on top of the cliff when you walk near the edge and fall off.

I didn't realise you could die on the top of the cliff, I always bounced back up again.

I remember hearing there are only 2 places in the game you can die, and my mate rang me up saying "How do I get out from under the pier when they throw you in?" and when he came back he was floating on the top with just the options of "Float Bob Gurgle etc"

Its from Monkey Island 2, And its on top of one of the cliffs , you can look over the edge too see a banana tree or something , and Guybrush falls off. In reality its a piss take of adventure games that dont let you make mistakes...a classic

The screenshot is from Monkey Island 1. It's the cliff with the "catapult" on Monkey Island. From there you can also shoot your ship with the rocks and make it sink .

In the german version he says "Down there was a rubber tree". Don't know if it's the same in the english version.

OK lots of confusion here. I want the facts:

*Is this screen from MI1 or MI2?
*If you shoot your ship, is it game over?
*Where else, in MI1 or MI2, can you die?

When the Sheriff throws you into the sea by the pier with the Idol attached to you is one (MI1)

Im TOTALLY sure that this is from Monkey Island 1. But you can also just take a look at the clothes of Guybrush in this screenshot.

When you shoot the ship you can still finish the game. You just get a little other ending. The crew is locked in a house (jail?) of the tribe which lives on Monkey Island.

The only way to die in Monkey Island is at the pier with the idol attached to you.

Big grin

Although I'd only heard about this recently, it's little "easter eggs" like this that really add a nice humorous touch to the game, particularly at their arch rival of the time,(Sierra's), expense!

Although it reminds me a touch of Leisure Suit Larry 2's "Cliff Face" sequence in terms of similarities.
