Aviator Arcade II - Awesome C64 shoot em up!

(Preview Release)

Quote:
RGCD are back with another brilliant C64 release and unlike the previous classy shooter of Rocket Smash, this time it's a top quality preview for their upcoming shoot em up game 'Aviator Arcade II'.

Great looking game. Screenshots look awesome. Can't wait to run this little gem when released.

It's slightly over the typical SEUCK niveau. Though the controls and scrolling are smooth. Looks like they make an extended version of the RGCD 2014 cartridge compo game. Nice for a few minutes, but clearly not "awesome" or a gem.

For a second I thought it's Aviators for Amiga (Battle Squadron 2).

I quite like this preview. Its not ground breaking for a c64 shmup or anything, but it is enjoyable to play. It's very well presented with music everywhere which is always a plus point. First run was easy, time for some bullet hell by upping the difficulty level and I might have to actually dodge some shots instead of absorbing them :S

I made a quick video of my first run through. [ Show youtube player ]

I love seeing new c64 games. This looks nice, but really underlines the quantum leap that the Amiga was over the c64. Put this side by side with SWIV...

Enemy waves are too boring/generic. Also the weapon system and boss enemies needs more love. The C64 could handle a Twin Cobra/Kyuukyoku Tiger clone.
