I might require some more technical help here. I noticed some pictures in the game include text as well, and much of that is naturally in German. Now to navigate all these .iff, .pic and .anm files to see what lies within...

If he's currently on Irada it may be good to say:
"Irada is strange, the people here will give information to anyone, but let me assure you, this planet is a pretty rough place." |

It does sounds weird to easily obtain information in a supposedly rough place, doesn't it ?

Good news everyone! I managed to figure out how to edit the image files in the game. Therefore you get these comparison shots.

Now that I have figured out this PowerPacker 2.0 thing which was used to compress the pictures, I also found out the same thing was used on the original text. This helps things greatly as I no longer have to load up the actual game with German files to check the original writing. Well, except for the dialogue in some cases since lines by the party and NPCs are in separate files.

Here's a few more I need help with. I think these mainly have German figures of speech which can't really be translated directly and be expected to make sense.

I should've mentioned that the context for that third sentence is odd. You get it when trying to sell illegal goods to a merchant, and you have to answer affirmatively to proceed with the selling.

Hmm, would say that 'details' fits a bit better than 'data' here

Mmh "details" is no translation/word for "Zahlen", but data is. Of course his hit's translation catches the same meaning.

Zahlen is German for some thing to do with counting, if I recall correctly; I do speak some German.
"Kennst du zahlen" might translate as "Can you count?" Does this make more sense in the context? It could also translate as "What's the payment?" |

Nope not counting, "data" like shop informations, i.e. the prices for weapons.

Like Retro said it means data/details/informations in this context. Could refer to the strength of the enemy or a prize/bounty. Would be nice to know the line before that one (I know I sound like a broken record )
