How do you read MFM tracks via C-Monitor/AmigaMonitor? Do do you just trace the bootblock, and save memory when it is loaded and skip the hits that Disables DMA? Does the system have to be in _LVOForbid or _LVOSupervisor first?.
More interested in doing it the late 80s C-Monitor way then with a Action Replay. |

I must admit I never really understood how cracking was done but I've been reading and playing with disk stuff recently while I've been writing my own trackloader and it's becoming clear that the bootblock is the "key" to unlock the door on most of this stuff.
Galahad's tutorial was interesting reading. Personally cracking is of academic interest only to me. There was a time though when there would've been a proper thrill in doing this stuff - getting that original just released game, cracked, packed, tagged with a cracktro and spread ahead of any of the other guys would've been a real buzz way back when I reckon. Funny that a practice that was held up as killing Amiga software has, in the end, been responsible for lots of it being preserved. |
