Putting adf onto cd-r (pc)

How do you put adf files onto a cdr burned on a pc.Then put the cd into the amiga so it can be read?.I have tried doing it directly as in putting the adf files onto a cdr then burning the cd so then put it on the amiga. But they just come up as standard files, as in plain files. Not like it would turn up they way should be if you put the real thing into the amiga.

You need to write them to a floppy using the Amiga.

Amigas cannot play games that are still in .ADF format.

You can mount adfs in the Amiga using the xfs package from aminet. Of course, you cannot boot from them, but it is useful for programs or games that are wb friendly.

Or just get Whdload and games, and extract them on the Amiga.. No more messing with floppies...

I've just installed xfs (I think?) to my Amiga drive, but I'm new to all this so not terribly brilliant with mounting or generally getting it working. Can you give any pointers, please?

I am happy that ADF-Blitzer is still being used and recommended! (I am the author of the "enhanced" versions (2.x))

I'm not sure what you mean by "unpack them back to the A1200 ram".

You can definitely transfer ADF files from a PC to your A1200's hard disk (or even ram disk, is this what you meant?) using CrossDOS and then write them to Amiga floppies afterwards. Please be aware that some ADFs are too big to fit on PC floppies even when compressed but you can cut the files in half then reassemble them on the Amiga.

If you have an A1200 then the easiest way to move files of any size is via a PCMCIA to Compact Flash adaptor...search the hardware section & all will be revealed...it's REALLY simple & the hardware required is ridiculously cheap!

You can also connect CD/DVD drives or ZIP drives, but in a standard case that's much more complicated, plus the transfer speed is slower anyway.

If you are not big on modding & want really fast file transfer speeds, PCMCIA is THE way to go!

PZ.

*EDIT* - I just looked on eBay...take your pick, but these adaptors seem to be gong for about $12AUD including postage. Once you have received the adaptor let me know & I will make the drivers available here for you...they are on Aminet & you could be made to search, but I'll put them here for you...just remember to do the same for others afterward as I am doing for you
