Didn't say it wasn't expensive, but rather less of a rip-off given the prices that Super Snapshot carts have been fetching on Ebay. The carts are out there (mostly in the US), but few owners tend to want to part with them away from Ebay these days.

Personally I have an Action Replay V and as far as I can see it does pretty much everything that the Super Snapshot does. Certainly didn't pay $US50-75 for it!

What they don't seem to realize is that buying Amiga software was popular because the price was right. Suddenly the phenomenon will fade with their ridiculous prices and their warehouses will remain stocked to the ceiling.

I think I bought my cd32 from Centsible, but that was about 3 years ago, and I got it for a decent price (about $60). Before I had bought my cd32 off Ebay, I was looking around the web for any store that was selling them. Some guy was selling unopened cd32 units for about $500 a piece!

I just took a look at their website, and now they're selling cd32 power supply's for ever $80 a piece! Talk about ridiculous.

I'm sorry I'm contacting you after you have already put out the AU
newsletter, but I am in desperate needof help from our Amiga Brethern.

AS you know, I am the publisher of "the NEW AMIGANS" magazine. What
you might not know is that I am also working at Centsible software
part-time. I was recently informed by Scott (the owner) that another
party has made an offer for the company. At first, I thought I would
simply have to contact them and get new advertising set up. But I
found out just Thursday that the other party intends to dissolve the
company and sell off the inventory on ebay "a little at a time" over the
course of several years.

Now Centsible is the only remaining source (as far as I know) for
several of the custom chips that are needed to maintain our Amigas (as
well as for C64s and C128s). If the other party takes the inventory, and
one of our computers break down, we may be SOL on getting them repaired
(unless the chips needed JUST HAPPEN to be on ebay at that moment).

Scott told me that if I can match their offer of $2,000 down and
$2,000 on delivery of inventory, he would finance the rest of the
buyout (at 0% interest). Now I can scrape together about $1,000. But that
would be needed for opening the new store location (rent,
utilities, phones, etc). I have a person who is offering the loan me
$2,000 but it will take time to get the money out of his investments for
me to use. Scott has told me that whoever gets the first $2,000 to him
gets the company.

I have already put out a plea to as many Amigans as I have email
addresses. And have been able to raise just under $1,000. I know you can
reach many more Amigans than I have addresses for. Could you
PLEASE rebroadcast this emergeny plea ASAP.

Anyway this maybe bullshit from somebody looking to score money from suckers and split, if not its funny how people overcharging for old C64/Amiga software cant make enough money to keep a small shop open.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. Asking for help from the Amiga community almost immediately after jacking them up by trying to corner the market and charge through the teeth for the products...I have no sympathy; if I put the money up, I'd want the inventory and I suspect anyone else would feel the same way. Why help them continue what they have implemented?

That or like Unknown suggested, it's a scam.

In my opinion companies that cant make money should have stayed as hobies. I am tired of companies/people with unworkable buisiness plans begging for money. Places like www.mandrake.com (make linux software and give it away for free.. no shit nobody buys it) www.lowendmac.com ( made a few bucks on adds and quit his day job during dot.com hype.. now asks for donations ever other week to support his "hobby job"). And now this guy from centsible crying because a non amiga user wants to buy the place and sell it off on EBAY over the next few years ( centsible sells stuff on EBAY already, not sure how many people buy from their store these days). I guess only AMIGA users should be able to bend Amiga people over and screw them with crazy prices (just like steve jobs does to mac loyalists).

To sum it up, if your hobby is usefull enough to me I might send you a few dollars donation if I want to (like shareware software I have purchased), but dont beg me for money when its your full time job. If what your slinging isnt selling find another job.

Friday, February 7, Bill Griffin signed the papers taking over the company
name and inventory of Centsible Software. Run by Scott Parker for the
last several years, Centsible software is purported to have the largest
stock of commercial Commodore and Amiga software in the world. Covering
800 square feet of floor space with software/pallets stacked 4 to 9 feet
high, the Centsible inventory is stored in a warehouse.

News of the impending sale broke on Tuesday, February 4. In a couple of
letters to the e-newsletter, Amiga Update, Bill Griffin wrote about his
concerns in trying to buy the company. One buyer wanted to put forth
the money in order so that all the inventory could be sold off piece-by-
piece on eBay, the Internet website for selling goods. Bill wanted to
keep the inventory off of eBay and run Centsible as a real business
catering to Commodore and Amiga users. Bill, an employee (technician)
of Centsible and publisher of the paper magazine, the New Amigans,
needed extra money to close the deal with Scott before the other buyer
could put his money down. Through the generosity of several
individuals - who Bill has said will be repaid - Bill was able to get
the thousands of dollars necessary for the down payment.

In a telephone conversation with Bill, he says that he wants to continue
keeping Centsible as a profitable business. He states that there is a
relatively large Amiga market in the U.S. with at least 3,000 users.
Centsible will be Bill's job, and he's expecting to spend 8-10 hours a
day running it. The largest buyers of Commodore and Amiga software
have lately come from Puerto Rico, Panama, and Brazil.

I just cut down to the part about the largest buyers coming from Peurto Rico, Panama and Brazil.

Makes me wonder how people in those countries can afford inflated prices on C64 software + International shipping prices?

Also what do you guys think of the 3000 user amiga market quote?

I wonder how much money he intends to squeeze to pay himself for 8-10 hrs of full time work a day plus whatever the loan cost the guy (funny he couldnt even come up with a few thousand cash for a down payment).

I think there will be a nice Centsible going out of buisiness sale on EBAY before the end of this year. Since the economy has taken a dump in the US the prices people have paid for retro equipment is going down not up. The previous owner must think so too and decided to unload it while he could.

Interesting stuff. All I know is that I will not be spending any of my money there until Centsible gets Sensible! It's a great big world out there and when our U.S. companies get too greedy, my money is good overseas (all one needs in PayPal, in most cases.)

Yes shipping does get expensive if the item is large, heavy, or both.

Anybody know of a place that sells cheap 68030/40 boards for A1200's? I figure even if I have to orderr one from europe shipping cant be that bad for a small item. Then again you never know.

Shipping can be bad, but is usually reasonable. Some US companies gouge you on shipping, too. Overseas shipping is what has kept me from getting heavy magazines from across the way, even though there's been some good opportunities.

I bought a scsi zip on ebay i still have not got anything...the sellor claims that TNT lost it and that he sent me 2 cheques ....but I have not got anything...so after numerous emails asking him to confirm the address he sent this:

"maybe you have moved and forget to inform yourself"

wanker....

so my question is....on ebay can you only leave feedback once and only if you have won an auction??

He can respond to your negative feedback, but it will only appear below your comment in his feedback only. His response will have no bearing on your feedback (or his own for that matter).
