If this is like a standard PC, then no, it's not normal. This means the data cable is backwards, usually needs to be turned 180 on the floppy conntector side

However, since I'm not sure if this is the same or not, you should refer to the dox on this device.

It was because of my old cable. fixed now but still testing. Documents aren't very detailed and I have absolutely no, zero idea how the board is supposed to behave under winuae heh.

What do you guys use to get the floppy working under winuae? I used multidisk device solution (for mk3) explained here but the drive is way too slow now. Can anyone attach their dosdriver settings?

Also can winuae not utilize ndos disks? Can I boot from a ndos game disk into winuae somehow?

In fact I'm beta testing winuae myself and latest beta does support joystick with a single tick in the misc tab but I'm yet to figure out an easier floppy solution and probably a way to use a blocky old amiga mouse because I happened to find a blocky new keyboard that would look excellent with an amiga mouse

Nah I read that 6581 is 12v and 8580 is 9v http://www.explore-technology.com/el...ology_SID.html so I presume it's not clever to bang one into the other's motherboard!

c64s are dirt cheap on ebay anyway and they are much nicer!!! (and that's speaking as an original c64c owner)

You can modify a C64C mobo to accept a 6581. It's easy and it's been done by many.

All I have here are 6581s but if I had to choose, I'd like to pick an 8580.

really? I always hated the way samples were quieter... but that was just when I only had access to a whole c=64, not when I could piss around with the chips!!

You can modify a C64C mobo to have loud samples with an 8580 too

I personally don't give two shits about samples, and I preffer the 8580 sound, but the mod is feasible and works well, probably its simpler than modding the mobo to accept a 6581.

RIGHT - back onto Catweasel - can anyone tell me if they've got the passthrough for the floppy drives (where you plug the cat into the PC floppy connector working?

If I connect it, the PC does not recognise the drive.

Anyone else before I contact KDH or Jens to get the SID part fixed?

It did worth it for me and I hope it's vale will increase with better support from WinUAE. But I've given up on SID which wasn't a reason that made me get the weasel anyway. Do you guys think it can be fixed with drivers or a new acid player? I sense a permanent hardware fault that can't be fixed without redesigning a MK5.

Just a friendly reminder to anyone that wants to get a Catweasel MK 4 and is searching for a UK dealer- we are official distributors for Individual Computers, the Catweasel MK4 can be purchased here.

Something I don't understand. Why doesn't kdh, amigakit or the other dealers "deal" with individual computers directly and have the sid problem fixed for all the cards at once? It'll be easier than sending it back from another country.

Exactly, and the fact they would rather spam this informational thread makes me wonder what their real motives are, oh, wait, that's right,
