Hmmm, this is the crack that I used "back in the day".

Did realise the screen is smaller than in the KIXX version; strange.

Where can one even find the KIXX version?

Forgive me, but I don't see it on your Github page unless I'm blind?

Sorry, I was told this was hard to find. I have just added a link to the Wiki sidebar and to the wiki homepage. Try again

It's on the EAB file server and google drive.

I wonder if this happens with an unexpanded (Kick 3.0) 1200? The Kixx Monkey 2 is explicitly patched for that configuration.

No protection with this

I tested the v1.0 .IPFs vs. the "[cr Conet]" set... I see what you mean.

Maybe one of the talented EAB members can crack the .IPF set to remove the protection? I'll open a thread.

Edit: it seems that the .IPF also suffers from the mouse issue when using KS v3.x... surely the [cr Conet] set must be based on the original version so do wonder how they got around this?

Yes, there is a zip of them in this folder of the Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...XJldkNjT2lmOG8

That's why I used it: It's cleanly cracked.

Luck? The crack surely predates Kickstart v3.

It's not cracked, it's the budget KIXX version so doesn't have protection...

Of course, but the point is that this crack works on all KS versions.

I can put the cracked version in as well. The main disadvantage I see is that the display is not vertically centred on PAL systems. That's probably why it doesn't have the cursor offset bug on Kickstart v3!

EDIT: This is done (v1.5 of the Monkey2 AutoSwap patch, now available for download).

Yup, that's the downfall with this [cr Conet] set

In WinUAE I have to set "Vert. position" --> "1200" to get the screen centred vertically...

My original Indy 4 (Not Kixx) version had this problem with the shifted display back in the day, when I got my A4000 with KS3.0.

JOTD has fixed this in his WHDLoad slave for Indy 4:

Something similar is mentioned in the Monkey 2 slave:

The patch I did 'round 1998 was a dirty DOS hack, cracking the game and fixing the display, but there were still display problems, and the pointer was still shifted (as it happens in the original DOS game on recent OS versions).
Maybe JOTD will be able to point you in the right direction about this?

WHDLoad does the moral equivalent of downgrading Kickstart -- it runs these games against a WHDLoad-patched Kickstart 1.3 image. Hence sidesteps Kickstart compatibilities entirely.

JOTD provides sources for his WHDLoad installers, which have been super useful, but unfortunately there is no suitable fix to purloin for this issue.
