Bike - Bitmap Brothers unreleased game

Does anybody know anything about this game? There's a bit of info in the excellent Bitmap Universe book, but not much other info exist... And getting that demo/prototype released would be fantastic, of course!

...which is a good thing The biker looks really rad.

The folks are cheering, there are timers and a "bonus", so my money is on a futuristic sport where you race hoverbikes around some crazy levels.

Very interesting.

I wonder if that working prototype will show up one day.

I noticed in the sprite that sometimes the bike lights up and... is the bike firing something?

That exactly, according to the book at least.

Looks really nice, too bad it did not get finished :/

Btw: From the book: "The book also reveals for the very first time the fate of unreleased projects, including the high octane Amiga racer ‘Bike’ and a 2D Speedball successor." What is this 2D Speedball successor ?

It's a long story, but let's say that at a certain stage Bike=Speedball2.5

Speedball 3 became Speedball Arena (full 3D and unreleasee as well...)

Dan Malone kept on dreaming (and sketching) a proper 2D sequel to the point of using both concepts from Bike and Speedball 2.5 and mixing them in a new IP to avoid copyright issues. You can see some artwork in his DeviantArt page.

I don't know if those are just rough, work in progress sprites or not, but they don't look anywhere near up to the usual Bitmap Brothers, Malone/Coleman standard to me. They look more like the first Xenon era graphics. Very early Amiga feel and not as good as their later work.

If those are drawn by Malone or Coleman then I'm very surprised and can only assume they're rough, pre production placeholders.

Mockup from 1990 or so, according to the book.
