Terminator 2 - Judgment Day

Hi there,

it's not a real support thread but a more a question.

I noticed that on my version of Terminator 2 - Judgment day, a puzzle seems quite different of the screenshots of hol :

The screenshot of my version is closer of the advertisement : http://hol.abime.net/1343/miscshot

Any clue ?

Looking on the Software Preservation website, there seems to be two versions of this game:

http://www.softpres.org/games?search...ype=0&offset=0

The screenshots on HOL are probably taken from the earlier version. Notice the LJN logo is black and white in your version - they put more colours into the face and it looks much more improved than the earlier version.

If you look at this Amiga Format review they also seem to be using the new improved version for their review:

Ok !

Maybe the hol page needs completion ( http://hol.abime.net/1343 ) they quote the spanish version, but seems to have 2 english versions.

Well, it's a cheesy game anyway.

I've looked at previews for this game and your version appears to be the earlier release?? There seems to have been some issue with Arnie's likeness appearing in the game, hence the reason for drawing Arnie instead of using the digitised version from the movie.

So which version is the later version?? Very odd!

That coud have been an explanation, but the version which is similar to "the ST one" has this picture in the intro, after the terminator building footage :

Which is pretty similar of the hol puzzle version.

Hi Marskilla, i have already found many years ago this difference, because the version with the likeness of schwarzie was discovered on my original disks. I dumped them, so we got 2 differents dumps of T2 for Amiga

Theres some info here http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=53732
but seems strange that it was copyright issue when it had the video clips from the movie

The copyright was specifically for using the likeness of Arnie.

So which version on SPS is the earlier release and which is the later one?

This is still a bit of a mystery because if you look here: http://amr.abime.net/review_21980

you will see that in this July 1991 issue of CU Amiga magazine they are using the cartoony Arnie graphic. This was a full 4-5 months before the game was even released ( most magazines review it around December 1991). So how did this version with the digitised Arnie even get released? It doesn't make any sense.

This is also the preview that mentions the copyright issue with Arnie's mug - so they had already corrected it months before release.

Only thing I can think of is that they made a mistake and mastered the wrong version first time round?? Weird.
