DOpus 4 tips

I just found out DOpus 4.12 provides path autocomplete using the Help key! Blows my mind. Any other useful tips for this incredible program?

The amount of times I've seen youtube videos of people using the Parent button...

The left and right edges of the listers have "hidden" parent buttons. No need to drag the mouse to the button menu.

DOpus 4 can do many things that many users are not familiar with, for example you can delete files by pressing the 'Delete' key or change it, you can turn LHA, ZIP, LZX and other archives into a normal folder with a simple click on the archive.

Send a message via ICQ to Predseda
Click LHA in one window and quickly click the opposite window and it starts to unpack it to it.

Also scroll the window using RMB.

I sent my Dopus 4 manual to DLH for scanning a few years back.
It’s available on bombjack.org.

Edit: I suspect not everyone knows you can right click the S button in the middle to see all available devices?

Uhh, I certainly didn't knew that. I always had separate button for that in my config. And a quick look at the manual shows that the other three buttons also have an extra command when right clicking. Guess it's time to do some clean up.

By the way, if anyone is looking for an updated manual in Amiga Guide format for the 4.17 releases, it can be found here: https://sourceforge.net/p/diropus4/c.../Docs/English/

There is that word again... "manual..."
I've heard it mentioned before....

Is that like one of those cracker txt files I sometimes find on my backups?

If you select a directory in one pane and then quickly select the other pane, the selected directory will be opened in the other pane. From there you can just up one directory. Of course this only works if there is a directory to select.

Otherwise you could click on B from the four central tiny buttons when, in your case, the right pane is active. This will show the buffer list which should contain the path to what is open in the left pane.

Don't know if there's another way.

I also don't know if this counts as tip, but I find it sometimes useful.
If there is a popupmenu.library available you can right click on the DRIVE NAME buttons above the panes to change some lister options without the need to open the configuration.
Only the library is needed for that.
http://aminet.net/search?name=Popupm...pmenu.lib+only
If you want to configure the look of the menu, you need the Prefereces program from the user package.
http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/pmuser
But that Preference program requires MUI. It is possible to just keep the generated PopupMenu.cfg in ENVARC: for the look. So, you don't need to keep/fully install either the PopupMenu Prefs GUI or MUI.

There is also a package containing fixes for popupmenu.library available here: http://www.iki.fi/sintonen/sw.html

I'd pay a modest bounty for someone to make a youtube vid for how to configure DOPus in the most appealing/useful way and also go through some of the more useful functionality that people don't know about.

I would say it is very objective what is appealing/useful.
I've downloaded some configuration files from Aminet and there wasn't one I really liked but most of them inspired me.

I think the most annoying thing with DirOpus 4 is that there is just one main config file. Which makes it hard to share specific buttons/menu entries. It is somewhat doable with making a backup of T:configopus.clip but it is very limited and not intuitive.

Hey I have made a button that adds/creates an LHA file in the destination pane based on the current source selection:

LHA -x -r a {d}{RsEnter LHA Filename} {O}

And I'm wondering if there's a better way to make LHA archives (and LZX preferably) in Opus?

ZIP -9 "{d}{RsEnter archive name}" {O}

7za a "{d}{RsEnter Archive Name}" {O}

If you happen to test my AROS One x86, on Dopus4 there are so many more configurations, not only on keys but also on "File Types" for many formats Archives, Images, Sounds !

On AROS Dopus4 is the same, but the AROS config file is not Amiga compatible, but just look at the various configurations
