I don't have much experience with SnoopDOS. Is there a way to increase the target name field over 99 characters? I want to see what commands SMBmounter GUI is generating, but they're longer than 99 characters

This is a compile time limit, you cannot increase it rom the user side. I believe if you want to check for such long strings, it may be better to use a debugger (such as COP) and set a breakpoint in the corresponding function. Or probably check with Olaf how the commands are constructed.

Curious, is this still from the original author of SnoopDOS?

In the end I managed to retrieve it from SnoopDOS by just providing less parameters
It seems my NAS' hostname was too long for the old smbfs. Fortunately, against my expectation, SMBMounter also worked with smbfs 2.22 for me and that did work with my hostname. |

A little late, but you can run SMBMounter from the command line with the debug argument and it will output lots of stuff to the shell, including the command lines constructed. It will include the plain-text passwords as well if used, so bear that in mind if passing that information on in any way.

You sure about that? You install/unpack it and run. It brings up the Filter window, which you can cancel, and it immediately begins searching for system calls. This is the exact same process as SnoopDOS.
Want more control, such as only looking at specific processes? Filter, like I have done for winuae.exe (as well as a bunch of other processes that I've excluded that I don't like to see in my results): Want to only look at registry access? File access? Network? Play with these icons. And much more. It's significantly more powerful than SnoopDOS, and just as easy to use especially considering how much more Windows does than Workbench. It's silly to say it's not as easy. /rant |
