I don't think there's anything wrong with the keys themselves, could it could be the cable that connects they keyboard to the motherboard?

Yes, but it's more likely to be a connection that those three keys share on the keyboard's PCB.
The keys that share a common connection are found along a line which is inclined at about 30º to the right, e.g. the keys Z,S,E,4 and M,K,O,0, etc. On that basis, the spacebar, enter key and backspace key may share a common connection. Does the right shift key work? |

Okay, I've found the thread. Here it is:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=46585 It turns out that the keys that share a common connection are found along a line which is inclined at about 30º to the left, i.e. the keys '9', 'O', 'L', and ',' and '0', 'P', ';', and '/', etc. That does not alter the possibility that the spacebar, enter key and backspace key may share a common connection. Can you confirm whether your right shift key works? Have a look at that thread to see if it gives you any ideas. Unfortunately, I cannot really be of any more help to you without having a look at the faulty keyboard in action myself. |

You're welcome, mate! THe A600 is a nice machine, and well worth making an effort with.

okay, got the keyboard thing figured out. next step, to get a hard drive. I want to get one of those compact flash harddrives, however I read somewhere that systems with kickstart roms below 2.05 rev 37.350 do not support harddrives? my amiga has kickstart 2.0 rev 37.300, so I can't use a hard drive? could someone please explain? :-)

Should work, but if you run into problems, upgrade to 37.350 or newer.

Hi Moroder,
With your Kickstart 2.0 rev 37.300 you can use a hard drive, but its maximum size is limited to 40MB!! Edit: No, wait! It's not quite as clear cut as that. For clarification, see this post. |

Yep, like I said.. Try it first and upgrade if it didn't work. For some reason, no-one has investigated into the differences between 37.300 and 37.350, but the 40MB limit is not quite so straightforward, that's for sure.. :-)

I used an 6.5Gb IBM Travelstar on ks37.300. The drive died some time after (due its own problems, BTW), then I tossed a 2Gb one and it works, too.
But now my A600 have 3.1 ROM (because I can - tm). |
