Arcade Attack Podast: Zool, Ghostbusters & Japanese Saturn Games

Hi Guys

On this week's Arcade Attack podcast I wax lyrical about the Amiga classic Zool, Keith delves into the money pit of collecting Japanese Sega Saturn games, and Dylan takes us back to the beginning of his gaming life with Ghostbusters on the Master System.

http://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/podcast-april-1-2017/

I have posted this link here as Zool on the Amiga did mean a lot to me, and I am sure many other Amiga lovers.

Please Enjoy

Adrian

Weird Dreams - Thoughts / Comments for Upcoming Podcast

Dear all

Please would you share any comments, opinions and memories of the surreal and in my opinion underrated Amiga classic Weird Dreams.

I am looking to record a new podcast on this game very soon and would love to hear your ideas.

Feel free to check out any prior retro gaming podcasts from Arcade Attack here: http://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/podcast/

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not mind I may use your comments in the upcoming podcast.

Unfortunately I have discover this game in its crack version and thus I have never read the novel which was include in the original version.
I was rather satisfied and intrigued by this game, so different, these strange dreams taken out of the imagination of somebody.
Quickly this dream looks like more a nightmare and I feel then motivated to help the character to take out these bad dreams, to discover the traps, what hides behind every screen from the "poetic" appearance with the hope fed to cure him.
The game had a certain maturity in its history and its narrative.
It was rather difficult in the direction, you rarely had the right to make mistakes, one error still passed but the second was often synonymic of death.
The animation is a little bit slow, a lack of reactivity and then especially, we have to find quickly what to make, it is not obvious to arrive in a place and to have to find quickly the stemming, then we often die by staining between every deaths to understand what we would have been able to make.
It can thus demotivate, but if you want to escape these Strange Dreams, you have to find this internal strength, a motivation, stay calm and lucid, to see things as them are and in beyond of what they are and follow the way that the programmer you in plan, the programmer in necessarily left an exit, it is necessary to find which one
An real experience of game to part and a strange adventure.
Some will not go pleased far that the first level, others go to know why will appreciate the challenge
oh and yes, the long time of disk loading participate in his way at this nightmare...

Nice big sprites and colorful environments, altogehter good graphics for it's time. Shows the Amiga's strength. Bad gameplay with insta-death situations in basically every scene, trial and error needs to be applied because the solution to the puzzles is often not apparent and even if it is, the particular mechanics are not, leaving the player frustrated because he doesn't even know why he failed. I'd guess that were the game to be released today, it would be a first-person horror/adventure game.

Chris Huelsbeck Podcast Interview

Seriously wow. He’s best known for his outstanding work on the Turrican games but you’ll have heard his excellent music scores in many, many other places - incuding R-Type, The Secret of Monkey Island, Resident Evil 2 and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. I chatted to the legend that is Chris Huelsbeck in our latest Arcade Attack podcast:

INDIANA JONES & THE FATE OF ATLANTIS PODCAST!

http://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/podcast-april-2-2018/

Dear all. As a homage to my 2nd favourite point and click adventure game (just after Monkey Island), I have recorded a tribute podcast to Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis for the latest Arcade Attack podcast. I break the pod into 3 sections; 1. Why it took me over 25 years to complete it. 2. The actual game and what it means to me and 3. I finish the pod with a nice Indy quiz that you can play along at home! I would be honoured and humbled if you checked it out and let me know what you think!

The Amiga! Why so Special?! Arcade Attack Podcast

Latest Arcade Attack Podcast - Amiga Tribute!

We’re back to chat this week and a topic that’s a bit overdue. Adrian and Dylan’s meandering chats have proven so popular we’ve let them waffle on about the Commodore Amiga, vital in both of their gaming upbringings. Memories aplenty plus lots of facts about the hallowed machine and in particular how much modern PC architecture owes to it…

https://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/podcast-march-1-2019/

P.s. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong area! Please place in podcast folder / link etc.

Beneath a Steel Sky, Universe & DreamWeb - Podcast Tribute

In this week's Arcade Attack retro gaming podcast we continue our love affair for Amiga games!

Beneath a Steel Sky, Universe and DreamWeb are three Amiga sci-fi/cyberpunk games that Dylan thinks are worth a remake (for various reasons).

Do you agree? Have a listen and let us know...

Another World - Podcast Tribute - Éric Chahi Masterclass

Another World - Podcast Tribute - Éric Chahi Masterclass

Another World was such a true gaming and Amiga masterpiece it helped inspire other legendary gaming titles such as Silent Hill, Flashback, Ico and Metal Gear Solid! It becomes even more astonishing when you release the game was pretty much built by one man; Éric Chahi.

In the latest Arcade Attack podcast I wax lyrical about this true classic, share the background of the game, while my good buddy Rob has a few (let's say controversial) issues about said game! Things get a little heated, especially at the mention of alien slugs!

I would be honoured and humbled if you gave it a cheeky listen!

How many hours did you sink into Sensible Soccer and Cannon Fodder?!

Stoo Cambridge was one of the key men in Sensible Software's rise to being one of the most respected video game companies in the 90s. In the latest Arcade Attack podcast I get to interview the Cannon Fodder legend himself.

Stoo discusses Cannon Fodder, Sensi, working on the Amiga, the rise and fall of Sensible Software and lots more in-between.

Please do give the podcast a cheeky listen if you get a chance.

Syndicate Podcast! Bullfrog's Finest?!

Bullfrog’s Syndicate truly put Cyberpunk on the gaming map, but how has it stood the test of time?

Our Rob wants to tackle this one in the latest Arcade Attack podcast, so he’s brought out the big guns… From persuadatron to exploits in Mongolia, this pod has it all.

And a back-of-the-box-jingle-off between Rob and Adrian I hear you cry? Our apologies in advance…

Did you know Trip Hawkins was a huge fan of the Amiga and even tried to persuade Steve Jobs and Apple to buy the company before Commodore?!

I quiz the founder of Electronic Arts in the latest Arcade Attack Podcast. He discusses everything from his love of the Amiga, working at Apple, starting up EA and creating the 3DO console. I would be honoured if you gave the pod a cheeky listen: https://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/podca...tember-2-2019/
