Anyone have Paul Willinghams email address

Hi all,

I'm trying to find an email address for Paul Willingham who makes the PSX controller adapter for Amiga. The email address at ntlworld appears to be dead now. )

thanks

How many buttons are supported on the PSx controller? What about CD32 games?

Nathan at AmigaManiac and Paul Willingham will be working together to provide us with a steady supply of these adapters soon. Keep an eye on www.amigamaniac.com or maybe send him an email to ask when they'll be out.

All the buttons are supported, even the extra buttons can be remapped to perform double-up functions. You can use one analogue stick as a joystick and the other as a mouse if you want.

AmigaManiac is located in NSW Australia and provides new hardware expansions, spare parts and a professional Amiga repair service.

I'm struggling to understand why you'd want one of these.. The D-pad on the Playstation controllers is quite possibly the worst out of any console, and using an analog stick as a digital joystick would be horrible!

A Megadrive or SNES controller adapter would be far better IMO.

But Megadrive controllers don't have shoulder buttons and I don't know what other DB9 controllers do.

Funny. I kinda like my PSX controllers. Haven't been using them for the Amiga, but i do run a PSX controller for the PC. The only issue i have with it is that the calibration is absolute, with no deadzone in the center, causing the sloppy build to make it drift in-game. I have NO issues with the D-pad.

I also like the Snes controller, but forced to pick one over the other, it's the PSX one, any day of the week. So, i guess it's a matter of opinion really.
B!

I think the CD32 D-pad is the most unreliable one: it breaks with no reason other the horrible idea of using plastic needles to keep it in place.

great feature... paul asked me for ideas to improve the adapters after he had sent me my units - and i thought simultanious mouse movement support to be nice. when you play against friends and use workbench inbetween games you don't need to switch to an extra mouse / mouse mode. just plug in one pad that does everything!

i personally love the psx1 pads and the first generation of the grey dualshock pad. nice buttons etc. the black one with analogue firebuttons is very wobbly and not recommended. and after all it is also very nice to use the analogue stick of the grey dualshock for old school gaming - just give it a try!

sorry to bump a rather old thread but I'd really love a couple of these adaptors, I want to use my X-Arcade with the CD32 I just bought, but this Paul Willingham guy seems very elusive, does he still sell these adaptors or are they just vaporware?

I'm in contact with Paul and he hasn't built any of these adapters for quite a while now. He has allowed me to use his code to create my latest project which will allow people to use their their playstation controller on all of his currently supported devices. I am designing it specifically to fit into the A600 but it will work with all other supported 8 bit/16 bit devices by using an adapter or small extension cable.

check out this thread for more info. (Release date is still expected End May, mabbe a couple weeks later dependant on the postman).

Nope, this award goes to the 360 controller.

Sorry but I think the CD32's D-pad is far worse than either of them plus it breaks after about a month or two of regular use. Besides the official Sony pad is only one of many different controllers that can be used with a Playstation.

Personally I think the dreamcasts and n64's are pretty awful. Though I have tried one i think this looks pretty nasty to http://web.mac.com/sebangulo/Pippin/Welcome.html .

I agree I think the 360 has the best controller out there

Depends if you melt the plastic using a very small metal screw or not.

I "cured" three of those for my personal use.

No, I'll not sale those.

About LAME controllers, anyone for the Otari Jaguar?
