Strider
Just wondering guys...
On Strider (Amiga conversion that is, not arcade) I could never morph into the cool looking robot. I remember there was some sort of points system which, when you got enough points, you could change. But I never got enough. On Strider 2, I didn't have this problem- just hit space bar and you became the robot. But I thought the robot on Strider 1 looked heaps better then the one on 2. |

I'll admit it's been ages since I last played Strider on the Amiga & I never actually played the arcade version to compare it with.
As far as Strider 1 went, there wasn't any transformation into a robot like Strider 2 for end level confrontations etc. But you could definitely get a droid as "power up" pick up along with a larger swordblade. As I recall, I think you had to hold down the fire button & the droid would go off & destroy certain targets for you-this generally boiled down to taking out gun turrents that were above you & you were hanging off a ledge below etc. |

Thanx for the help- have to experiment more...
Yep, in Strider 2, you hit space bar and change into an O.K looking robot with caterpillar tracks. But because he is a big, hulking piece of metal, he can't jump or crouch, and is a tad slow. He just has a big gun. As I said, the robot on Strider 1 looks (from what I can see in the display on the bottom of the screen) much better- sort of like a Manga/Anime cyborg |

hey guys
are you REALLY sure you can morph Strider in a robot? I'll be gobsmacked if that's true.... The drone is in the arcade version, but I don't remember any robot .... |

... what? There isn't any robot transformation in Strider 1...
The robot showed in the panel was an enemy that you battle in the middle of levels 2 and 5. |

Poor, poor thread! Laid to rest for 14 years and now selfishly resurrected, some people have no respect for the dead

Heh. Strider 2 was poor and dead easy to complete. Still I kinda enjoyed it way back.
