First Amiga crack intro should be the Leader Bord intro by Megabyte.

Yes, this was my conclusion also when researching for articles.

On Pouet, I'm in search of the first Demoscene Demo, i.e. platform agnostic. Mostly, I'm curious about at which point "here's this thing" turned into "here's this thing we made" that got spread for its own sake. (c) Me.

I thought we would be able to trace it back farther, but as I see it we are at about 1985 or even 1986 and the platform seems to be C64, if we don't find a demoscene on the BBC.

But that's just for the Demoscene. Before that, there were technical demos, PD demos, commercial demos. Boing is a technical product demo (release date is not Jan 1984, obviously, but when the product was available, Sep 1985.)

You can add criteria for "what is a demo". To be spread for its own sake, i.e. not something that comes on the disk (and you may watch it but the real reason for spreading is something else, like a game), maybe you need some sort of effect?

At least it was when I realized there were other teenagers just playing with the hardware and building reputation with releases that I knew there was even such a thing as the Demoscene.

I researched this too and found this effect, which was ahead of its time and impressive, while being simple enough to build a first steps tutorial around, which would inspire those starting out.

The credits for this crack intro are not linked with a standalone demoscene demo release, and the same is true for the Megabyte, Inc. crack intro, but if a link should appear, either is candidate for first demo on Amiga.

If you don't care if it's a demo that got spread for its own sake, then Boing is it! Ahead of everyone. Cos it came with the machine.

I'm not sure that Leader Board was the first intro. I thought it was one with a picture of an A1000, can't remember the game or group.

I think the first 'demo' (multipart) and specifically done for copyparties are from 1987.
I remember something of that period with exciting effects and not only because there were boobs visible (double o, not a typo) .
Some parallax screens moving around, with multiscrolling and sampled audio.
But now I do not remember the names, neither of the programmers nor of the production.. I should search on pouet.

EDIT: found! http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=4445

You specifically asked about crack intros and these aren't crack intros. Besides, I'm not sure about the release dates as I doubt that TLC did something on Amiga back in '86 already.

You can filter and sort on Janeway, which tracks release dates by relating them to preserved disks, games etc. (On Pouet you just fill in anything on upload.)

So the TLC ones are from June and November 1987.

There are 3 HQC crack intros that could be earlier than July 1986 (date is uncertain here, hence no month specified). Unfortunately they're not related to anything before that date, including any game that was cracked (and the name of what was cracked is not shown on-screen).
