Wings of Fury
I was playing the CPC version of this game those days, and it reminded me some things
I loved that game in my Miggy (It was the 1st Amiga game I ever played), and most of time I played with cheat, so all I didi was choosing bombs, and just throw bombs like hell in the islands. After some time, I begun trying to play it without cheat, and God, HOW I SUCK IN THAT GAME! That's usually me playing the game: Take off with bombs, I drop all my bombs just to hit 1 or 2 gunner-houses in an island, because my aim is totally crap, then this leads to 2 things: 1 - I try to shoot the japaneses with my machine-gun, and usually end up crashing in the ground or in a tree 2 - I get back to the carrier to land and reload my bombs, just to miss completely the time to land, and hit the carrier or fall in the water, and when I get the other life, a japanese is in the gunner-house again, and I have to spend all my bombs to hit that house... and the cycle goes on, until I lose all my lifes Is this game THAT frustating, or am I really THAT crap playing it? |

Well, the game IS kinda hard to play, but normally you should make your way to third level without any problems I think it´s impossible to complete it without any cheats, but it´s not THAT hard in the first 2 or 3 levels .....
I also remember playing that game, I liked the screaming of the soldiers when hit by my machine gun But I found it VERY difficult to sink those enemy carriers .... |

I found this game quite easy (I played it alot on the C64). To land, just come into the carrier at about 5 degrees. Your landing gear has to be down. You'll land but you'll be going fast. A wire comes out and slows you down towards the end of the carrier.

I never completed level 1 without cheat.
A good thing to note when coming in for a landing (Though I've always failed at that) is that it's a good idea not to press the joystick to the side. The plane should decline right and everything. Then I think it's something about pressing up since the hook catches the back of your plane, and unless you press up the tail will stay in the air. Or something like that. I haven't made a landing in a long time. |

Great game. I also remember taking Shatterhand's approach at first but then I learned how to play it
Never tried the Amiga version, only the C64 one. |

You don't have to land from the right, when you approach the carrier, an arrow shows to what direction you have to land..
I manage to land a few times, but usually is BOOM.. I think I need to get more training |

Below is two pictures taken just now, I was pressing up (On t Joystick) when both snaps were taken. Can you notice the difference, from the right the nose is pointing up and from the left the nose points down. When coming from the right when the nose goes up and you also slow down and it's extremely easy to land, no BOOM what-so-ever, unless of course you hit the end of the carrier If you don't believe I'm right, try it my way, you'll see, oh yes, you'll see Last edited by Ian; 27 October 2001 at 21:36. |

You MUST approach for landing from the right side, else you would bounce like a frog through the hole carrier

Maybe we should to a rewrite of Wings of Fury with an integrated Harrier Jet, so you can land up to down

Retroman, read the thread on the GAEB, there's already a dude coding a remake of this game. Ask him to add a Harrier Jet
