Put a switch on an ACA1232/40

I would like to use a switch to turn on and off the ACA on my A1200 by connecting it to the jumper pins on the board.

My question is: is it risky?
What could happen if i turn off (or on) the ACA by mistake while the Amiga is powered?

Thanks

Hello, I have the same question... I already put a switch on my ACA1232 and I use it in order to enable/disable the card (for compatibility with some games) but what happens if I accidentally switch it when the computer is on?

I haven't tried it, but I can't imagine it should cause any dangerous problems since the ACA has power all the time, regardless of the enable setting. It will just most likely crash the machine and might require a power cycle.

I fit a switch to my ACA1232 and ACA500. If you disable the accelerator while the system is running, it just locks up. Just power off and back on, and everything is fine.

Thanks for the reply... I don't want to try it (there is no reason for me doing that) but at least I know that I won't damage the hardware...

Send a message via MSN to fitzsteve
A black hole will open and the world will end so don't try it.

There is only one jumper, on the top side, under the place for the 030 cpu...

@fitzteve
I knew it! So I won't do that but... just in case... we can always call:

Looks for jumper on PCB, has been a while since I bought this card, then realises he owns a ACA1230
