HDs not mounting at boot - Icon problems?

I've just upgraded from ClassicWB 3.1 (Lite) to ClassicWB ADV SP, the version that looks like OS 3.5/3.9:

http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/advsp.htm

By upgrade I obviously mean a clean install as you can't upgrade. All is well apart from one problem - my two non-system partitions, DH1 and DH2, do not appear on the desktop/workbench when I boot the machine. If I open up Dopus and navigate to DH1 or DH2 they are present, and upon closing Dopus are then mounted. But they refuse to mount when WB is first loaded.

I have a couple of ideas - firstly, I replaced the Disk.info file in the root of each partition with a custom one. But replacing it with a 'default' one (eg the same one in my System drive) or removing it completely doesn't help.

Secondly, as I did the install in UAE and then transferred the files in to my real Amiga, the two partitions weren't present during installation so maybe they need to be added to the startup sequence or something?

Any ideas? This is on my 'real' Amiga 4000D.

I doubt it has anything to do with icons.

Is the harddrive bigger than 4GB and are DH1 and DH2 outside the first 4GB of the harddrive? If yes, then it's probably the big harddrive support which is not installed properly. Probably scsi.device is patched on the fly without a reboot, for example by running IDEfix or such. Then partitions which were not accessible at boot time only become available when first accessed.

You could try to put these into your user-startup:

Code:
diskchange dh1:
diskchange dh2:
or just populate user-startup with the assigns you probably want to establish anyway now that the new system is set up.

Ah yes you may be right, I completely forgot about patching scsi.device on my 3.1 install. I have an 80GB IDE drive with a 500mb WB partition and then two 40gb data partitions. Will give that a try. Thanks.
