what do you guys to to organise your floppy disks?

I must have like over 100 now, only just 100 though.

Sadly, I havne't got the time (well I say that, maybe im just lazy) to organise them, if I haven't got a box then, big stacks of them all over different rooms of the house/attic, with elastic bands, not in order at all, not alphabetical, cover disk number! anything!!

I never ever see any decent floppy disk boxes in shops these days

I used to only like using floppies but now find them to be a hinderance and they are failing more and more! I'm considering a HxC device or just using UAE from now on and storing my miggys away for safe keeping

Ive got mine in disk storage boxes and I have around 600 lol.

I got my containers at work (old stuff being thrown out although mint) and others at boot sales.

in the later A500 era i owned a 5 1/4 floppy drive that was the same cap as a normal floppy
it was cheaper tp buy 51/4 discs at one time for storage
carnt remember who made it ?
now harddisk is best storage device mb per pound

I have a cupboard full of boxed games and hundreds more stored in disk boxes... they rarely get any use but at least they are out the way

I use something called a "Bin".

That´s why I use disk boxes from THOSE days

I´ve got some disks left, too (about 200 to 300....I haven´t counted them yet...and these are only the 3,5"....there are also enough 5,25" in my cupboard). They have got labels containing the content (oh...surprise

I used to buy a pack of 6mm round stickers numbered 001-200 or something like that at the local paper shop, and put it over the top disk edge so the number would show when in the diskbox. I put a piece of tape over the sticker so it wouldn't fade or fall off inside the drive!

Then I used ranges of numbers for disks in some category, like WB/util disks, work disks, ST-xx disks, games, demos. Still have a few of them, dunno why I stopped doing it. Might be linked to that I have 4 diskboxes and 10-12 smaller 20-disk diskboxes within arm's reach... when you have like 5-600 disks at hand, looking at numbers won't help... unless you put them back in numbered order (which I don't) and have a searchable database to find the disk number...

So now I just throw them in misc labeled 20-disk plastic boxes. Means I have to search max 1-2 boxes before finding the disk, that's good enough. Both methods are recommended.

My copies, cracks etc, are in 3 plastic boxes, unsorted. My boxed originals occupy the whole wall shelves in my bedroom.

I only have a very few disks remaining, few coverdisks, etc, and a few sample disks of mine (all long backed up to reliable storage).

I had about 300, I mainly used my memory to sort them, as I just went to a disk box, opened it and got out the disk I was looking for or the 10disk floppy box was named to making searching slightly easier.

Oh, forgot to say... the 20-disk boxes I use are the kind you see at hardware stores for putting nuts and bolts in. Very handy and cheap, and you can put them on racks or stack them in tall towers

I had about 300 floppy disks in the day, and 15 years later I have no idea where they ended up. I had backup's of my workbench setup and all.

Now, I have only 15 floppy disks. All disk images are ADF's on my PC or Amiga hard drive. I dump the ADF's to disk as I need to, and erase over the top of whatever was on there.

I cant see a need for 300+ floppys anymore when 4 gig compact flash drives are so readily available and store so much (in Amiga terms)!

I like to own the originals, thats why I still have all those floppy's

My whole collection is original disks only I passed on all the backups and coverdisks, you're right no point in keeping those...
