Dragon's Lair/Space Ace (any version)
Anyone here ever finish these games? I mean, it's next to IMPOSSIBLE!
If you did finish it then you deserve to have a weekend spent in a luxury hot tub with the three most beautiful women hand feeding you grapes.... That is all /throws joystick out of window... grrr... |

First of all : No, and even with a trainer it's still I also tried some of these 'games' on the MegaCD and they are slightly easier, but still no fun to play. Guess it was mainly the graphics in 1983 that sucked the coins from the innocent youth
Oh and I just love the NES port after watching this : [ Show youtube player ] |

I've finished Space Ace back in the day with my dad reading a walkthrough next to me while I was playing the game. Took us around five attempts still to get through it.

I've never finished Dragon's Lair myself, but I remember watching 2 guys play the original arcade from start to finish (making very few mistakes) in the 80s in a game store I sometimes visited. To me (at that time) it was simply amazing. Needless to say, they probably had to pump a fair amount of coins in the machine to get there.

Actually like most of these laserdisc arcade games from days of yor, you just had to memorize the left-right-up-down joystick queues and finish them
I did this a few times back in the day on the actual arcade machines, along with the Anime inspired Cliff Hanger (which was take from the Castle of Cagliostro, Lupin the Third) Now I never did finish the Amiga version nor was I able to complete the re-released versions for the PC either |

I finished the Amiga versions using a walk-thru. The best was seeing the entire animation sequences at an anim meeting from someone who worked at Bluth Studios for the 3 games circa 1990 along with his commentary. Obviously, if you buy the DVDs now, you can watch all the sequences.

Never finish either. I refuse to cheat or use walk throughs.

I finished Dragon's Lair in the arcade when it came out, it was expensive since it cost 50 cents per game! I again finished it on Amiga and PS3. I also finished Space Ace on the iPhone.

I was lucky, we have these arcade parlors called Electric Castle Wonderland that charges a $2.50 entrance fee and the cost for the arcade games is a nickel each and a few that required 2 nickels to play I think they are still around too but I haven't been to one in years now.... |

I will never forget the disappointment after getting my hands on these games. I had a VHS with trailers from these games and they looked like the coolest games ever but turned out to be among the suckiest!

Never played at the original arcade counterparts because I KNEW I wasn't able to go over the first screen!
The first Dragon's Lair on Amiga was really frustrating, because too much disk swapping, even with the walkthrough, I got myself annoyed very soon. Better luck with Singe's Castle, but never finished. Space Ace, still not so good, but VERY close to the original arcade. I was able to finish it all by myself without any walkthrough, but I took a LOT of time to do it... |

Definitely finished DL for the Amiga. I love memory games and the DL series...
Can't remember if I finished Space Ace or the other DLs, so maybe not... I know I bought Escape, but can't remember finishing it... (Might have been about when I was getting in to PCs and making money.. ) I also finished DL on the C64, which doesn't count as the same game, but still. desiv |
