The Speris Legacy sequel
Hey,
I was wondering if anyone here was still in contact with the guys from Binary Emotions, who coded The Speris Legacy. I wanted to ask them about the sequel that was never published! (For more info on this planned sequel, visit this page: http://www.amigareport.com/ar504/news12.html) Cheers Jed |

AFAIK one of the coders was Galahad/FLT on this forum.
But I don't think it was so much "never published" as never written. |

I'm intrigued - there must be an entertaining story behind this. Perhaps Matt should drop you a line, eh?

We made mistakes by starting on AGA first, should have done OCS/ECS first, and then go onto AGA. By the time we got around to doing a feasibility study for conversion to OCS/ECS, we had to remove so much stuff because the poxy levels were so big, that it would have been an absolute loading nightmare, essentially the OCS/ECS version would have had to be a different game entirely to make it fit. Speris is the reason you didn't get Witchwood... some claim to fame eh? |

Ian Ford (AKA Dreamfish/Hoffman) did some Ian Jolly did some Keith Baker did a couple And I did one Ian Ford did all of the module mixing, i.e. taking peoples individual modules and fitting samples and mod data into other modules to reduce loading and time. |

I actually quite like Speris Legacy for the most part although it felt more unfocused as the game went on in my opinion (wasnt a fan of the level in space, didnt fit properly).
@Galahad Did you used to visit #amiga_overmind "back in the day" (must be 8 or so years ago now at least). Your nickname has always seemed familar to me and if Im not mistaken that's why? |

I have to say I also loved the Speris Legacy. Something about it just appeals to me - the little fruit bowls on the tables in the houses, and the water fountains. Oh, and Minsk da cat!

I also kind of liked it. The graphics where nice and it had an enjoyable atmosphere overall. The only downside for me were: relatively easy (if I remember correctly, it's been some years) and the goddamn code book...

Guy in Red is Ian Jolly Bloke in centre in background in blue is moi Bloke in foreground is Andy Jolly Kid with floppy fringe poking in on the right is John Snelson, bit of a amateur, but was a bright kid that was picking up stuff at a phenomenal rate, don't know what he's doing now but if he stuck to programming he'd be pretty good. |
