I love Commodore as much as anyone but just because the monitors say Commodore on them doesn't make them good. It does make me laugh that people pay money to have them repaired instead of getting a good CRT for nothing though. It's a bit like paying for a Mitsubishi Sigma when someone's offering you a Ferrari for free.

it makes me laugh, when people compare a ferrari when talking about monitor repairs...
your definition of cheap just went straight out the window there.
but then again...when your good set goes wrong it gets dumped for another free one...

but,he is asking how to fix it,maybe you missed that in your uber logic.
probably too busy picking up free good crt's in your ferrari while dumping your old ones to notice.

yeah,i think we do get it,you have got a good set there fair play to you...for nothing.

OP stated it hasn't had a knock, I've heard of shadow masks coming loose without a knock and that's why I suggested it. The other possibility is that the key that holds the yoke to the tube, under the key the plastic has broken away from heat or age and the yoke has indeed slipped. Looking at the original picture it's more distorted at the top so if that's happened then the yoke would be leaning forward or angled downwards. Looking through the vents at the back above the picture tube with a torch you would be able to see if the yoke is hard up against the stoppers or whether it has moved.
