It's just the price the vendor THINKS he can get.

Price market is decided usually by the average of the ending price of the last X auctions for that item.
Since price market = how much people want to pay for it.

That said, I don't believe it's worth THAT much

never check a buy-it-now price, instead set your ebay search results to show completed listings. That will often tell you a much more accurate price. Loose joypads seem to be going for 20 GBP regularly in completed auctions.

Even that is too much IMO, though. Garbage controller! I much prefer a joystick or a competition pro CD32.

Agreed, the stock CD32 controllers are crap! I wouldn't pay more than £10 for one.

If you're a collector then maybe, but I certainly wouldn't recommend getting it to play with.

I don't play with my stock CD32 controller any more, I'm generally OK with the layout and feel but the build quality isn't very good. The clips under the pad were broken when I received it and I had to MacGyver together a fix using a paperclip. Also for some reason most of the time it's stuck in "two button mode", and I find my Honeybee and my PS2 controller (using the PSX to DB9 adapter) more comfortable anyway.

Never had it stuck in two button mode before. I do however miss the rubber pad that doesn't come with every CD32 pad. Make the plastic d-pad soft to touch.

@FOL it's a weird issue that sometimes (not always) comes right if I leave it plugged into a turned-on console for a couple of hours, though it usually goes back to that mode after I've left it for awhile (and sometimes even in the middle of a game). I might get someone to re-solder all of the connections sometime to see if that helps.

That rubber pad sounds great though.

I collect sealed/new controllers from 90s consoles and have a CD32 one. They certainly don't come up for sale often, but I think that price is too high purely due to lack of demand vs supply. Sealed SNES controllers can sell for $100+, but there are far more of them out there and more collectors wanting them. I'll post a photo of my collection if anyone is interested, the 'rarest' one I have is an unused Amstrad Mega PC controller

Ive also had the Two button mode problem and think its as simple as the conector working loose from the Amiga - Even a tiny bit and its Two button mode - I dont think its the cable or the pad as ive been through a few.

I'd be interested in seeing your collection, edd_jedi. For me, the controllers are even more nostalgically emotive than the Miggy itself, probably because they were the visceral connection to it. My childhood playground was awash with blood spilt over the battle of the best joystick.

On the subject of controllers, anybody got any good tips for loosening up the rubber on a Competition Pro joystick? I bought a new one the other day and the rubber which recenters the stick is so stiff now, definitely not like these things were when they were new.

Can I just boil it in water or something to loosen it up?

Here you go, not a huge collection yet but am working on it. All are new/unused and most are still sealed.

Thanks. Yep, could definitely do with an injection of Amiga 'sticks. Never heard of this 'Nintendo'.
