Convert IFF to RAW

What's the best tool to convert IFF files to RAW (+palette) files? I have a ton of stuff to convert but I found that I have no tool to do it :/

I used to use a tool called "picconv" or similar from aminet. Picconvert? Pixconv? Pixconvert? It can convert picture data and palettes even to ASM or C code.

PicCon or ArtPro both are good tools for the job.

Well I downloaded PicCon from Aminet (I am supposing this is it: http://aminet.net/package/gfx/conv/PicCon250) and also tried PPaint which says saves as RAW, with the same results.

This is what I get :

I am modifying an image I already used, didn't change the color depth or anything, just changed some pixels, but somehow I must be doing something wrong in the conversion. Maybe the output format?

Also can this still be registered? The nagging is annoying.

How exactly did you convert the picture? Saved as IFF in PPaint, loaded into PicCon and saved as RAW? And no, PicCon can't be registered anymore but removing the nag screen isn't much of a problem.

In the zone is ReqHack, copy it into your C directory.

If you type Reqhack PicCon
and hit return and
type Reqhack This
and hit return, it will remove the two main nag boxes.

Case sensitive, so spell the two words exactly as I wrote them and job done

The image is an IFF that I saved with either DPaint or grafx2, loaded into PicCon and saved as RAW.

The filesize of the output is the same as the one I had before, so I can't guess what is wrong besides, maybe, the output format (asked h0ffman about this and am waiting for his response)

HI
To me it just looks like you saved the raw file as interleaved bitmap, instead of ordinary. Or maybe the other way around, the code needs it interleaved, but you saved it as ordinary.

Did you choose the correct output format? Press "1" and PicCon will open the format settings. Also, what are you using to display the converted picture?

Yeah well this was my question too, which I couldn't answer, hence why I emailed my mate, who made the display code. My best guess is the format I am outputting is somehow wrong, like LaBodilsen just wrote:

I was trying stuff out but forgot to try that. It was not interleaved. I checked interleaved, and now it works. You are a star!!!

Thanks so much for your help, everyone.

I highly recommend this tool: http://aminet.net/package/gfx/conv/GFXMasterV1.10

It can load IFF, cut out a portion, save raw in various formats (regular or interleaved etc., include palette or save separate), output palette in asm format and more.

Sounds cool JAsmin, how would you say it differs from PicCon? PicCon as far as I can see does all that too.

As can do the other tools mentioned here.

However, PPaint so far seems the worst tool, even though it saves as RAW, there are not really any options to choose in which way it does it. Would not recommend to use it.

Now a corollary question: at least PicCon nor PPaint open back RAW images. Is there any tool that does that? This was my main reason I wasn't able to figure out which format my raw images were in.

PicCon easily loads raw images! Set the picture format and also set the picture dimensions with "Image Load" in the "Settings" Menu and use "Load Image" to load the data.

Damnit, I hate being so stupid about it. Thanks for the patience.
That was a bit unintuitive though.
In either case, I keep getting "Image not recognized" errors. I went to those settings, changed them to reflect my image (320x200, 5 bitplanes, interleaved and bitplanes) and it's not reading it.
When I click "Image load" it asks me the resolution, then it asks me to choose a screenmode (?) and then it doesn't do anything. I go to Project->Load and the picture does not load.

[edit] OK I don't think I am that much of an idiot anymore. There's a Project->Open Picture and Project->Load Image. I was hitting the wrong one, but the difference is minimal, not good language to use.

Thanks again for the hand holding!

Assume you want to load a 320x200x4 bitplanes interleaved picture.

1. Load PicCon, press "1" to open the picture format settings, select "Bitplanes" and tick the "Interleaved" checkbox.
2. Open the "Image dimension" settings by choosing "Image Load" in the "Settings" menu. Here set Height to 200 and Depth to 4. Click "Done" and choose any screen mode you like.
3. Load the image (Project->Load Image) and PicCon will load the image with your selected settings and show it.

If you want to load for example a chunky image you set the format to chunky and PicCon will load such data as well.

I wouldn't know about PicCon or the other tools mentioned, sorry.

I just know GfxMaster works well for me
