"Going into London" is hardly the most difficult thing on the planet.

I live in Essex just outside of London and see no problem with it.

There would be no rush hour issues so travel in London wouldn't be an issue. The tube/train system is fine, and more than acceptable.

Shut up, you are destroying THE MYTH!

In this meeting I propose you set up a ring and andreas and I take it to fists like the men we are.

haha

So what's going on with this? I am hiutting London in June 6th for a gig as 8GB.
Maybe I can score a gig in the vincinity of this meeting and get someone else to pay my tickets for it, nye :P You could all also go to my show and make a massive mosh pit!

It's amazing, after years of inactivity, nobody has still talked more rubbish than I. I am proud of myself.

As long as you do a cover of "Who Are You" by the Who on a gameboy I'll be happy to be a retard.

I went and asked a few of the london uni's (from a link earlier) about a small place for the meet and have had two straight no's and one yes so far.
The yes didnt say anything other than:
"In regard to your request for tables for people to bring their computers, is a fixed tiered lecture theatre with benches for your delegates to set up with computers suitable?"
Delegates? hmm I did say user group but mehh.
so no price as yet (may be expensive as its London) or availablility (although I said summer so..)
Anyone else tried getting a place anywhere?
I guess a TravelLodge would be a good idea price wise...

They do ask how many people, anyone want to take a guess? (I mean if we are going to let none-eab guys come it could be 35 it could be 75, I dunno. heck it could be 10)

I've got a feeling however it may be too late to arrange it for this summer now.

Yes

But I´ll have plenty of time for it next year.
I´ll need some helping hands, though.

Yeah, no problem at all. Oh except I epect a t-shirt saying "organiser" for the meet, just so I can lord it over the rest of you.

For a one day meet yeah, you want to make a weekend of it and you need to plan places to stay, dinner, over night parking etc.
One day meets are nice (specially at the Alt.WOA pub, mmm) but I thought the plan was something along the lines of everyone brining their A500-A4KT (And A1's/Pegs if they begged enough) and we just played games, with the odd A500 set up at the front with a big tv for head to head games. (I could be wrong)
That would be out the window for a one day event, it would take the day to set the place up and then break it down.

Im going to continue chatting to the one "contact" just to get a price and will get back to you all anyway, just to know if these uni places are cheap enough to think about. (dunno what the target price is but £15 for two days would be ok I would think)

Well, this could be turned into something productive like a mini demoparty, or why not just meet at some oldschool demoparty?

Except it would take me three hours to get to London and then three more to get back, all with an A4KT in tow on a Virgin Pendilino.
but yeah a gaming even would be so nice, one row of people playing A500's and the like, one with stock A1200's and another for upgraded miggies.

Ok, Ive just had a reply from the one person who didnt just say no.
Lets just say the venuemasters idea I put forward turned out to be a bad idea, the one who replied and said they have space has just come back with a quote and there isnt a chance we could use this place.
It is "£1,650.00 per day (09:00-17:00)"

So its safe to say thats out
Now on the up side that was a massive place (I have no idea how many people would come, I said 50 maybe 75), it can take up to 100 people, way to many people but the place had rooms available and I was hoping they wouldnt put a time limit on using the room.. .but they did.

Out of interest I will e-mail Travel Lodge and see what kind of prices they would charge.

Heres a copy of the e-mail:
Dear Oliver,

Thank you for your email and I trust this email finds you well.

The theatre we are able to offer you with power points is Lecture Theatre One, Tanaka Business School @ £1,650.00 per day (09:00-17:00).
Fixed Tiered Lecture Theatre x 100

I would suggest visiting the facilities to determine the space for the keyboard and computer monitor. When is a convenient time for you?

We are able to provide accommodation on campus during Summer Vacation, and have a Hotel Booking Service that offers discounted rates in local 3-4 star hotels.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards
Melissa
