Ratio Monitor

Hello,

can anyone tell me what the aspect ratio of the monitors were on the Amiga ? Were they 5:4 or 4:3 ?
I bought a NEC Multisync EA193Mi LED Monitor for my Amiga. The ratio ist 5:4 but I am not sure if that is correct for the Amiga.

Back in the day they were all 4:3.

This is a bit of an impossible subject.

Old Amiga software (1985-1986) was mainly written for NTSC 4:3 but many of us European users saw the art squished in a sort of 4:2,81 aspect ratio with the huge blank bar on the bottom. :-)

But 4:3 is how everything Amiga should be viewed if you want some kind of accuracy. The pixels are not square. If you want to take it all the way, use NTSC 4:3 mode for software that comes from USA and PAL 4:3 mode for software that comes from Europe.
