A1200 vampire question - worth upgrade ?
Hi guys,
Real layman’s question - I run a A1200 with a Blizzard 030. I use it just to play whdload games. But I’m having TV issues. I read the vampire does hdmi out? If so is it worth getting one? Will it replace the 030? Or am I just best looking for a new tv? Thank u for your time. PZ |

The A1200 Vampire is not available yet so you couldn't buy one even if you wanted to. You have a very nice set up for games, i'd just get yourself a new or used TV for now and see what happens when the new hardware arrives. As for will it replace the 030.. it will be much much faster (more than twice the mips of 060 @ 66mhz) but that speed is wasted if you only play old games.

Yes, there's also the risk that some games won't work anymore or will be too fast.

Umm, so this will clearly have been asked elsewhere before but seeing as there is somewhere here that obviously has a pre-release / dev version...
Does the Vampire 1200 still leave the original AGA chipset available to use? Would be awesome if it is basically an 080 accelerator. I kind of thought that it took over most of the system though. |

Depends on which core version you use with the Vampire.
Core 2.x only replaces the CPU and adds RTG, Core 3.x also overrides the Amiga chipset. |

Oh ok, thanks for explaining. I like that. A lot. It seems like the best of both worlds to me RTG 080 still with access to the original chipset. I have to say then it sounds like my perfect Amiga.

The Vampire is impossible to get hold of anyway, unless you are prepared to pay stupid prices. Been on the waiting list for the Vampire 500 V2 for years but despite the website saying allocated I have yet to receive an email.
I'll stick with my ACA.... |

@Amicol if it says allocated then mail was sent to you from our server. Probably ended up in your spam or some mail filter you have rejected it.

@majsta
unfortunately my spam folder automatically clears after 2 weeks, so will never know if I received it. Been trying for a while to get in contact unsuccessfully for a few months when I realised it had been allocated. Gave up after a while. I would not have intentionally rejected it... |

so price seems to be €430 (current price is €380 for v2 vampires 500 and 600), what are peoples thoughts? does have full fpu, rtc clock port and extra headers.

Question: Do the standard display modes route out through the digital out as well as RTG or does it require two monitors, or some form of signal multiplexing?
