Amiga Memories / A review project
Dear All,
during the last months of the year 2012, I decided to initiate a review projet centered on our favorite personal computer. It all started as I was watching a review of 'Batman' by the Angry Video Game Nerd in which he tried every single video game on Batman, except the Amiga version. However, it turned out I have no acting abilities at all, plus I'm not an English native, so a classic review by me talking in front of a camera would have been either boring or embarassing. That's how I started to think about the Amiga reviewing itself. Technically, this is all 3D renderering. Today, modern GPUs can be utilized to render a whole "offline" sequence in almost realtime (the HDD is slowing down the whole process, actually). The voice over is produced (automatically again) by a German speech synthesizer called 'Mary TTS' And now, let me introduce the first episode : Dune Intro [Episode 0] IDEA/SCRIPTING/RENDERING : Astrofra MAIN 3D MODELING : Saleh Al-enizi & Gregory Thomas PIXELART ROBOTIC FACE : Sven Ruthner 3D ENGINE : GameStart3D LIPSYNC EXTRACTION SCRIPT : Thomas ‘Scorpheus’ Simonnet Text to Speech : DFKI MARY-TTS Music by Stephane Picq, ‘Exxos, a Spice Opera’. The first video is about the Dune game on Amiga, and its relationship with the movie by David Lynch. There's no real message, except the introduction speech borrowed from the film. It was a perfect material for me to test-drive the whole system. (I already posted this video in another thread, sorry for the double post, but I just made a second video with the same system, so it could be wiser to create a specific thread on this topic) Last edited by Astrofra; 02 March 2013 at 14:01. |

These are great, lots of nice touches. I love how the using the same voice makes the story of the boing demo equally as epic as the story of Dune.

Well, it's not really hard, but there's a lot of technical details to pay attention to. And the engine is, at the moment, a "one man" project so you're unlikely to find the same level of tech support that you would find in the Unity3D community.
And oh, yes, a *mandatory* requirement : you need some skills in programming The engine is in alpha stage, completely free so far. |
