Pizza Connection English - looking for someone to take over the project

I started investigating the possibility of doing an English version of Pizza Connection (from German) but after getting part of the way in I ultimately decided it was going to be too much work! Someone else may have more patience than I for this sort of thing.

The DOS version has a full English port (Pizza Tycoon), some of the text is stored in plain text files so I've simply copied them from the DOS version into the Amiga folder. However the text on the menus (and there are MANY of them) are embedded in the executable, so it takes careful editing to translate those.

I've zoned my Work In Progress, containing the partly (I guess about 10%) complete English Amiga version, as well as the full English DOS version that can be used as a comparison. Just feel free to pick up where I left off or whatever.

I had totally missed this, but downloaded it just now and had a look around. Seems to be simple enough to change words and phrases in the binary, there's lots of space around each word so hopefully words can use more bytes than their german counterpart.

There is much more to change, the scenery files etc.. also a lot of names and places (stores) have "funny" names which need to get translated too.

That's true but it's already all been translated in the past (with the DOS version, which is included in the download).

It's basically just a case of copying the strings from the DOS executable to the Amiga one (not completely straight forward since the offsets/lengths are different).

Is it a single executable?

It might be easier to reassemble it and replace the strings in a more comfortable way. When it is perfectly reassembled you should also be able to change string lengths at will.

But the job is not complete. All the recipies in data/r/ and some files containing pizza names are still german ("Schinken Pizza"), along with other files in /data/:
*Edit: I see, you mean all the files of the PC version are already translated. But you cannot copy the texts just over to the Amiga version.

As i wrote before, the names of places and people are meant to be funny, so they should be translated too.
Like, "Arnold Ahnungslos" translates to "Arnold Hasnoclue" or so.
This would be easier with an editor to mess with the files. Not impossible but will take time.

Tonight I took a look at the archive containing the Amiga (German) and the DOS (English) files that Eric kindly uploaded

Tried to match up the DOS files with the Amiga ones.

Most are there, but there were a few files in the Amiga version that I couldn't find in the DOS version... anyway, I believe it's a good start.

In The Zone! you will find a new archive "Pizza Connection - Amiga & DOS_Match Up Files.zip" which as the following directories:

... DOS_REARRANGE

hello
im ready to share my work which i started back in 2000 (with smaller and bigger breaks). i translated like 90% of the game, which is now very playable for non-german speakers

the question is, where can i share it, so you can hopefully start testing ? can i just provide the file hosting link here? or maybe it has to go to The Zone (which i have only read access)?
