Amazing 3D textured tunnel demo
Hmpf. Just two weeks ago I downloaded a great demo with a 3D tunnel with blueish arrow and tile textures on it. It looked like a looping, raytraced animation, but the perspective changed slowly!
Sorry, don't remember if it was AGA or not, but it was lo-res and there wasn't gazillions of colors, so I guess it could have been OCS/ECS. Can't even remember the group name, shame on me I seem to remember it was a single part demo loadable via CLI. Anyone know this demo name and group? I wanted to watch it again but now I can't find it among my 400 demos Gotta get organized... |

AHHH! I found it, randomly. It's a non-AGA(!!!!!!!!!!!!) demo that runs in 512 Chip/512 Slow from 1993 which is called...
accession-cooldemo Just saw it today and wrote down the name in my little black book (actually it's blue) Still haven't picked up my jaw from the floor. Trust the Finns to make this kind of truly amazing demonstrations. If some AGA 060 buffs think they've seen good demos, they need to watch this I'm still stunned. HOW? |

Thanks for uploading it.
The tunnel is impressive, but I wish they got rid of the damn text. That's one thing I've always hated about some demos - loads of mindless typing or scrolling text distracting from the actual demo. Without the text, and with some interesting changes like palette change or curves in the tunnel and spins and it would have been awesome. |

You don't get it. To even do this is _impossible_! Only Amiga (and a genius) makes it possible I'm gonna start a thread in Coder's Heaven to see if someone can figure out how it's done...

Yes, I see what you mean. I've seen many demos with tunnels, but none like this.
Just a note (useful or not), I decided to try this on my A1000 and it ran, but the colours were weird. The tunnel walls were red, then the whole thing went black&white for a few seconds, then red, then B&W again and so on. |

It's still a great demo, but not as amazing as I first thought. See this thread for more info:

if it's the demo i think the music is wonderful, a C64 remake if i remember.
The tunnel is AFAIR a kind of remake of Stardust tunnel part. If you really like 3d tunnel you should check Artificial Paradise and Animatunes both by NGC http://www.whdload.de/demos/NGC_Animatunes.html http://www.whdload.de/demos/NGC_ArtificialParadise.html http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=3026 Last edited by Frog; 09 February 2006 at 20:30. |

Ah, hell and damnation. I downloaded over 1Mb (using dialup) before finding out that those demos are AGA. I wish websites listing demos or games would specify AGA.

Well yeah, Arte is one of my favorite demos!, along with "Crash Test". That tunnel is not an animation though, but coded. (Vertical parts are (pre-)blitted and horisontal parts are modulo-tilted.
It all comes down to that the 10-frame animated tunnel in this demo together with the slow scrollreg movement created the illusion of the camera tilting (!) |

That`s what I mean.. it's coded, not rendered. How it's done is the reason why demos on static hardware are what they are - innovation and trickery to keep pushing the boundary. If the Accession demo was 32K, then I`d be impressed, as the frames would have been rendered in code, not looped images made in some other tool.

The demo reminded my of an AGA game called "Wild Flying" by Push Entertainment. The game is free on there web site http://www.push-entertainment.com/downloads/other.html.
