TOSEC on Edonkey

Before you delete this - this isnt a request, Im just wondering, Why is everything amiga-related on ShareReactor/Ed2k/overnet non-existant?? - by that i mean every files availablity is 1-3 and impossible to d/l. someone here posted the links to the TOSEC collection, at the time i didnt have ed2k/overnet or know what it was, now I do, im wondering why post it - if its not possible to actuall get anything??

Has anyone, got anything, for amiga, from overnet/ed2k?

I want to get hold of everything so I can host my own FTP, :_

???? How??

Ive tried everything, (i have ADSL - at least 50k/s) and all i can get is the occasional 5KB a second, on the occasional file. My ISP has no restrictions at all - kazaa works fine etc..

so annoying!

All tosec can be gotten from aceroms!

albeit slowly

alternate ways are:

News progs.. there are regular floods on Alt.Binaries.Emulators.Amiga and Alt.Binaries.Emulators.Misc

Find an FTP (or 2) and get access

I do, but just individual files (no 'collections' which are quite useless in my opinion), and also nowhere near of anything 'complete' - it's just the stuff I downloaded myself for my own use. Also, I manually restricted my upstream for 'file sharing' to a few kb/s, because I'm also running an FTP server from the same connection. That's the way it is...

I do it all the time, I just let the program downloading stuff (many files at the same time) and most of the time I get what I want. it may take a few nights but I can grab them. I've downloaded many many tosec sets with edonkey (to this day I believe edonkey is giving better results then emule). Mostly TOSECs Updates, but some quite big (200-300Mb). And also many Mame packs and other stuff.

That's exactly the point: I have no interest in having a 'complete set'. Just because some people maintain some halfway useful database, it doesn't mean I have to jump on that wagon. I just download what I want to play and what's not already in my collection of originals.

Yes - but it's still one of the six networks I let my client connect to, because it can't hurt

Ok, look I gave DC a try but I'm still convinced that it sucks. Maybe it might be good for some ppl but not for me. Mostly it requires you to share more than the size of my HD , plus it's a plain hell to find a good server with the stuff you're looking for. Edonkey might not be very good, but at least it's simple - just run it, do a search and dl the stuff you want. The speed is always verrry slow but on the other hand you'll mostly get the stuff you wanted. Can you guys give me some hints about how the fuck to use DC and still not want to kill yourself? Cause I can't.

I consider this site somewhat dead.

DC is feces.
You need DC++. Install and configure (name, share , where to download etc).
Under the File menu, click the Setting tab, then to the General tab.
Type in either of these hublists into the "Public Hublists URL" box.
I store the other hub list in the HTTP proxty Box.
Click ok, now you are done configuring.
Always interchange either of these hublists in case one won't load.
Now you are ready to run.
Go to Public Hubs as shown. There we go, right click on one that you want to try.
A note. ALL the best hubs are in Sweden , with some requiring 1, 5 & 10 mbit connections. Some don't require special ISP.
You being in Sweden will get incredible speeds.
Emule will be a forgotten hunk of garbage.

Not really, it has been revamped. I've been downloading some whole sets (more or less 100Mb each set, 10-15kbs, only one set at a time). It is working perfectly.

Could never get DC+ to work, joined 20gb servers even, listed loads but nothing would download, more than likely due to my router :/

Anyway doesnt matter does it, at the end of the day there is more to life than emulation...

I could never ever get e-donkey / E-mule to work, would lovce to get my hands on the full tosec stuff.

But ALAS only thing that seems to work is Kazzaa but that doesn't have much on it.

And my Newsgroups on NTL have no Amiga related stuff
