15-pin female plug (PC joystick) to 9-pin female plug (Amiga joystick port)
Hi!
I am looking for the pinout for an adaptor that allows you to use an analog PC joystick on the Amiga and I have found one at AmigaKit: It looks like a straight cable with no circuits - does anybody have the schematics so I can see how it is wired? Thank you! |

I'm trying to dig up the schematic I used for mine about 18 years ago... But it is a simple straight-through adaptor. There are optional capacitors you can use to improve the sensitivity as the Amiga prefers a different resistance to that which is normally used for PC joysticks. Firing up my A1200 to look for it now...

Thanks, I think I have found it:
Question is: will games be compatible with it? |

Okay, what I have is Deluxe22.lha from Aminet, which includes a schematic that also allows various functions to be swapped for certain games that used a non-standard pinout. The guide includes details on the capacitors - I used 0.1uF capacitors for my adaptor and the default pinouts, and it worked perfectly for me with Birds of Prey and F1GP.

Hmm. How about, say Giana Sisters? Would one of these conversions work with it?

Sorry, I didn't see your second post there. That looks the same, yep. I don't think Giana Sisters would work - the games have to specifically support analogue controllers so it's mostly just simulation type games that tend to use it. I could be wrong though, I've never tried Giana Sisters, but it seems very unlikely.

For completeness, I have found a list (on ebay) of games that are compatible with a PC analog joystick and I'll post it here in case someone hits the thread:
