Will start the second thread as soon as I can make a decision on Summer Games II so any advice would be appreciated. Also for the life of me I don't really know how we're going to score it even if we can play it due to the variety of events (i.e shortest time, longest distance etc).

Is there an AGA version of Zool 1? And if so is it okay to play that one?

It appears on youtube that there is one.

Looks like it is just the addition of a parallax background. Are there any other differences?

Not as far as I am aware except it apparently actually plays slower when lots is on screen (!).

No. Extra levels = no chance. Wouldn't be a fair round then.

Slow start from me.. had a damn flu all week

Had a quick go on both versions, definitely prefer ECS because:
- AGA version is more sluggish (you'd think it would be better )
- AGA backdrops are messy/confusing
- ECS version has the loader music on by default

Seems I got lucky with a barrage of bullets on the world 2 boss in the previous run.. because now I can't kill the bastard at all.
Thanks to the longplay I found some more secrets that let me almost match that score, but the frustrating fender freak is sapping 9 lives out of me every time

You would not beleive how many times I tried to get beyond the guitar boss, and I have a quick look at the longplay to see how they do it but it didnt help one little bit. I always have maybe 4 lives left by the time I get to that thing, but nothing yet has dented this fender. I know I beat the guy once before because I know I played the fruit level, but this is beyond a joke.

As Antony Crowther would say 'but it IS possible'. HOW is another question.

Never a big fan of this but to be fair I did like the sequel, I thought it was a much better game.

Made it to the boss of world 4 this time.
I'm more efficient in killing the world 2 boss now, although he's still no pushover.
The big tip is to remember you can only damage him when his eye open, which is every 2nd time he swoops down

Good to see you contributing to the round seuden, regardless of score

I prefer gamepads for any platformer really.
Zool has quite fidgety/sensitive controls.. takes some getting used to imo!
