myst full hd install

hi guys..a tricky pb :

- as i do not have any cd mounted on my a1200 os 3.0 8mb fast ram, 8go hd. i put the cd in my pc cd-rom and mounted the drive on my amiga through the pc2amiga tool (via parrallel port)...

- this way i was able to install the game with 310Mb install option on my a1200 hd...

- i launched the game and figured out it was still trying to locate the cd-rom (requesting for myst volume)

- so i copied all the lacking remaining files in my hd myst folder and before launching it i assign myst: to my hd directory....

- it solved the problem so i was able to enjoy myst fully from hd.....until i tried to enter the big monument at the top of the stairs in the first world and the game crashed....

i tried everything.. myst1.1 patch, upgrade of my setpatch to 40.14 as recommended.... but still it crashes when entering this building...is it a kind of cd-rom protection to ensure the player is using myst cd-rom ?

any idea on how to patch this ?

really no feedback at all ? not even the switch to 3.1 and get yourself a cd-rom drive kind ?

more likely the file got corrupted going through pc2amiga. It was never the most relighable method of transfering files, especially large ones. id double check to make sure all the files match up and re copy over any suspected bad files.

oh and switch to 3.1 and get youself a cd-rom drive

if you dont, youll miss out and regret it forever.

thanks a lot for your answer !! i did not suspect at all that pc2amiga could lead to corrupted files as i've been using it for a while....do you have any idea of the critical file size that could lead to such troubles ?...also how can i check that the files match up (file size, checksums ?) and which tool to perform this operation ? what transfer tool based on parrallel port would you recommend instead ? and finally did you successfully test myst running from hd and hd only ? thx dude....

PLEASE!!! HAS ANYONE TRIED TO INSTALL THE REMAINING FOLDERS OF THE CD on HD and assign MYST: volume to HD: to try to fully play from hd ? if not would somebody be willing to do it to check if he gets the same problem ?

I don't have Myst, but if you could somehow make an ISO available and also your savegame I'd be willing to have a shot at it.

But I'm sure someone else who owns the CD would be willing to have a go, but they are probably too lazy to answer you

G'Day Philippe.

I've been meaning to do this for a while. Anyway I installed Myst
with the installer and then copied all remaining files over
and it works fine! (No CD required)
I presume you mean it crashes when you enter the library at the
top of the hill (steps). Anyway I entered the tower through
the hidden staircase & lift and all worked fine. Cruised around
the level a bit and all was ok. BTW The requester doesn't pop
up asking for "Myst"....it seems to work fine ;^)
