RAM Problem in winUAE 1.1
Hello
Did I miss something? I have an excellent A4k config with hardfiles and stuff. I used to have 2MB Chip and 64MB Z3-Fast in the config and everything rocked. I am not sure since when (definetly after 1.0) but the Z3-Fast is not recognised and I can only rise Fast to 8MB. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance. |

Wrong CPU setting? It needs to be 68020 or 68040. (32-bit addressing)

32-bit addressing?
Why does it work then with KS 3.0 and 3.1/40.068? From (Win)Fellow times, I remember that only A4000 KS 3.1/40.070 can do 32-bit addressing. Am I wrong? |

What?
24-bit address space = 16M, largest continuous space for fast RAM is 8MB. |

Nevermind , seems I was talking about something completely else.

Sorry about my delayed answer but I was in Germany playing Kick Off 2 ! Toni, no, I am using 68020+FPU with this config for about 3 years now without a single problem. Everything seems to work just fine with 0.9.92. With the transition to 1.0 I have a problem. When I load the config, regardless of what I have as Z3 RAM, it is automatically reset on load to 0.
Of course I made a new config with the latest 1.1.1 but the same thing happens. No matter what I tried, I always get the same problems. I am attching the two configs, one from 0.9.91 that worked fine in 0.9.92 and one from 1.1.1. I experience the problem I described before with both. Thanks for your help. |

My PC has 1.5GB or RAM (2*512MB + 2*256MB Dual Channel). I will attach the log file as soon as I get home in the evening.

I tried the same config in a AMD64 PC and on load, it doesn't reset the Z3 to 0MB while loading the config. I will bring my home winUAE folder with the hardfiles etc and try it out for further test.

Unfortunately this is caused by old code that was supposed to be removed in 1.1. It can cause problems if total RAM is larger than 2G (physical + pagefile).
It tries to lower amount of Z3RAM if it is larger than total RAM but it is broken and I replaced it with better code but for some reason old code is still there.. Result is "Max Z3FastRAM 0M. Total physical RAM 1535M" in log. |

Toni, this problem exists with versions from 1.0 and afterwards. The PC at home is a PIV with 1.5GB RAM. The AMD64 PC I am using at work has 2GB Physical RAM. Problem seems to exist only with the former and not the later.
Is this going to be fixed in a future release? Thanks for your help. |
