Faulty A500 keyboard
I have an A500 with partly faulty keyboard. The left Shift, Alt, Ctrl & Amiga is not working, all other keys are ok. I tried cleaning the connector for thekb membrane and replacing caps, no luck. Any ideas ?

Probably some of the lines on membrane got damaged. I had similar issue, few blocks of keys didn't work.
I used multimeter to see which lines were the problem, then when I found suspicious spots I'd gently scrape membrane isolation (in some cases to get to lines, in other to expose more of the OK line part. Then I used this and toothpick to draw/fix over brakes in the lines. That fixed continuity and keys started working again. After I was sure everything is fine I used clear nail polish to "seal" these fixes and hopefully make it more resistant. It's been around 4 months since I did this and it still works fine. It took me few days and a lot of patience (I had about 2/3 of keys not working), more than one matrix block, so i had to retrace all of the lines. In your case probably only one line is damaged. |

I had several keys not working on my A500 too, what I did was buy a new membrane, about $25, that fixed the problem, all keys working, even the light in the caps lock key.
