Thanks for confirming it Guess they deserve a point for making the case available on its own. Not going to buy one, no matter what you'll say though

The final decision on CUSA threads is being decided internally at Amiga.org. We will not allow massive free advertising for something not even Amiga related.

Spiegel confimed it, too. Bottom line is: Ambitious overpriced hobby project.

It is that dull. The only "work" worth mentioning went into press releases and the "new" case. Your dig at Linux is rather annoying btw.

And you are judging that from my one short sentence?
I like GNU/Linux, I run Ubuntu 10.10 on my netbook

Anyways, enough off-topic, I'll leave this topic for you guys.

Not to mention slow as hell..

Atom or anything less =

Probably has some god awful slow disk controller stuffed on the system board too making for a wonderful experience! You may as well buy the real thing to do your C64 duties and have a mid-range laptop for the rest!

I agree 100% with that statement... but I do care that some half-wit is dragging the good name of Commodore/Amiga and re-branding stuff which is not what these names stand for.

It's like if I bought the name 'Cray' and stuck it on a Atari ST.

Hey some of us like STs! It would be really sad to see nonsense like this happen to the Amiga, Acorn, or ST. These machines mean something to me.
If people want to use the name then they'd better match the spirit of them.
The only way CUSA could redeem themselves would be to relaunch a real C64 with upgrades.

It would cost millions to re-produce the real C64 with all chips, and of course there are no production machines+tools left. Financially/economically not doable.

"You have to let go to take off."

They keep saying things like that over and over again. Three won't be no relaunch. They don't have the engineers to do that either.

Well that's the only thing worthy of the name. Note minimig. It is possible to do this. It's just cheaper to stuff a mini ITX pc in a replica case.

They don't have anything. No hardware and no software. They have zero engineers. They have no will to do anything interesting at all.
If companies this sad were the norm in the 80s home computing would never have happened at all.

Minimig is still hardware emulation. Yes, that's possible. But not a 1:1 reproduction of the real C64.

That would do just fine for me. FPGA reimplementation with new features in the original case. Easier than trying to track down a C64 with all the upgrades.
Hell I'd probably buy it as a retro fan. But this cack? Thanks but no thanks.

You could try to mod the Chameleon into a nice case with a keyboard. Though you would miss the joyports.

AFAIR this baby is quite true to the original. If one woman could do this all by herself, it puts C64x even more to shame.

EDIT: £19.99 only
