Unhappy [Hoax] Folding A-EON Technology

Trevor has posted the following on a couple of the other forums.

Quote:
With great pain I must inform you that I've decided to fold A-EON Technology.

The financial and personal burden has grown too heavy for me to handle, and with the A-EON partners backing off I'm left with no choice but to fold the company.

The current run of AmigaOne X1000 boards will be the only one made. The beta testers can keep their boards if they so choose, and the remaining boards will be set up for auction at a later date.

I'm sorry for this disappointing and unfortunate turn of events but there really isn't anything I can do.

Thanks for everyone involved in the X1000 project. It was fun while it lasted.

Best regards,

Trevor Dickinson

Although the system was out of my price range, it was nice to see someone attempt to bring out something new.

His accounts have obviously been hacked, these posts on other forums are fake.
I think we would have been the first to know as we are distributing the X1000.

I suposse that if someone wanted to sell his X1000 twice the price that should have worked.

Or maybe your account has been hacked and that post was made by the hacker to make us believe that the X1000 indeed was still go. Hmmmmm

The Amiga scene forum is the best place for this thread unless the report's authenticity can be verified.

Its a hoax, trust me, A-EON would hardly do this and not tell the official distributor.

Perhaps I should rename the thread to "Report of A-EON Technology's collapse is exposed as a hoax!" and return it to the News forum.

@all

I have just spoke to Trevor on the phone. He is trying to get his accounts reset and will post once he has them under his control once again.

Glad to hear this wasn't for real. But it's a bit worrying still because this was obviously not done by some random guy, but someone in these Amiga circles. I'm not trying to start rumors but because you simply don't just hack a user account by doing enough login attempts with random passwords, my first thought was that it's someone who has high administrative access to one of the forums Trevor Dickinson visits and can retrieve user passwords even if they're salted and hashed.

My user account is of no interest to anyone, but I'll still be changing my passwords on the other Amiga forums.

That is so lame. What's the point in molesting the AEON guys of all? I hope this incident will at least -ahem- rekindle interest. News on X1000 are few and far between lately.

Sorry to say, it's not really a surprise, they were never going to sell them at 2 grand a pop. Shame for Trevor losing his personal finance though.
