Just make sure to have something to assist straitening the pins on the ROM chips.
They don't have anything listed currently, maybe because the shop is in 'holiday' mode!

Yep. You can't beat a table/desk for this. I'm sure there's tools available but they're not going to be as quick or as easy.

I just looked using the link from my history and it does say they have stock, so it’s probably as you say because of ‘holiday mode’.

Just checked Sordan again and their shop is now open so ordered the A1200 ROMS + disk labels for €37.64. Wondering if i'll get the licence info sent in an email rather than having to wait for the physical ROMS to be shipped?

*Update* Just had an automated email saying they are now on holiday until the 15th, WTF!

FWIW, I bought my 3.1.4 set from Amedia Computer in France back in December, and received it within a couple of days.

They used DD disks back then, don't know if they still have stock today.

I didn't get an email with the serial but you could perhaps ask if you order from them.

Side issue but just wondering how a site like amigawarez.com can get away with operating. Blatant links to 3.1.4 downloads..Hyperion Entertainment don't care ? Hyperion disliked in the Amiga community that bad? Not trolling, just wondering..

Me myself would prefer to throw them a few euros for the effort they made with 3.1.4 for whatever it's worth.

That feels really shitty, I understand that many of us in the community pirate old software when we have no way of getting it legally, but spreading new software like that just feels like a rotten thing to do.

But hopefully most everyone that is interested is buying it anyway to support the developers.

Sad to see it listed there but yeah, hopefully those that downloaded and liked it gave the developers something. Although I dont know if the measly amount of downloads is a bad or good thing.

Another question, what is the best font to use for os 3.1/3.1.4 that is the most legible in uae at 800x600/1024x768.

Using blitzbasic 2.1 but the font is hard going when you are used to anti aliased fonts etc

How does this update work - are there new ROM images to burn? Are there 6 new disks to install from?

(I'm waiting on my supplier of 3.1.4 to get back to me, they shipped ROM with no serial number on it. A reputable supplier, I am sure they will provide one so I can get the official update from Hyperion. But until that happens I have to be curious.)

the updates are just a 1 disk update that has to be applied on top of your existing installation

Yeah, it's tough to go back alright I do most of my Blitz coding with AmiBlitz under OS4.1, which has anti-aliased fonts, but when I'm back on the Amigas (either 3.1.4 or 3.9 on a 1920x1200 screenmode) I use Topaz6.font, size 8. It's thinner than regular Topaz, which makes it helvetica-like, but fits the 8x8 metrics required for the editor.

You can make your own custom rom using remus and add some updated libs from the 3.1.4.1 disk if you want to. (gunzip the Z files) I did this and also replaced intuition with the updated intuition.library (45.13). Seems to work fine so far. Here is a screenshot after booting from the 3.1.4 install disk (adf) in WinUAE and using the custom rom. Off screen window dragging works out of the box.

Is applying the software update enough or do you need to use updated 3.1.4.1 kickstart roms too?

If you're a Linux person romtool from AmiTools can also be used in place of remus. I like this as I can build the ROM outside AmigaOS.
