3.9 desktop icon text question
Just installed 3.9 and classicWB 3.9. Everything went fine, but i have a simple question. I have chosen for more colors than 16. I installed picasso96 and running at 1024x786x16bit (also tried 32bits). And my icon text is white whit a darker border and some strange shadow. It's affected by the background picture.
How can i remove the strange shadow and chose a darker text border? I'll tried it whit prefs/Fonts but that has no success. Also when i changing the color (i.e. to red) it will stay white. Here a picture to illustrate what i mean: here |

Go to Prefs and open Font Prefs
From there, choose the Workbench Icon Font (Ff button)... ...and check if Mode has "Text+Field". If it's like that, then change it to only "Text" and you're set |

That what i thought, but that had no success. There is some other program in ClassicWb who did this. Also chopper is disabled.

Have you disabled...
- Fblit/Ftext, - BlazeWCP, - IconBeFast, - CyberBugFix These tend to cause issues with RTG systems iirc |

Hmm are you using CreateOutline to create outlined fonts?
I used it for my A600 and ECS environment (as you can check below) ... but I never tried it on RTG. Is that the case? |

Hi mfilos !
Roman78 has solved his problem already but maybe forgetten to make a short note in his thread here. http://www.a1k.org/forum/showpost.ph...6&postcount=23 Something was broken with his XHelvetica font. I would suggest to try FixFonts in such a case. |

Yeah XHelveticaC is just XHelvetica plus outline via CreateOutline
I seen the solution some minutes ago while surfin' a1k.org. I'm glad a FixFont would fix teh case. |

Yep, just tried it myself as well just for testing.
Fonts created with CreateOutline don't appear well in RTG over 8bit color. |

It's a "known problem" listed in the CreateOutline doc, as shown below.
That's why I only use these fonts in the native Amiga packs. Discovered the same problem back in March. P96 users need to change back to a normal standard font. I'm actually going to be doing some work on the packs soon, so I'll see if there is a substitute for P96 users that doesn't cause any problems. Quote:

I use Powericons to add a basic outline around the icon font.

Is it possible to use PowerIcons just for this purpose? I am already using PeterK's icon.library and I don't want PowerIcons to get in the way and make things slower (it also causes ugly icon dragging)
