Arriving in Stockholm at lunchtime today

First time there. Got rest of today before work starts.
Any notable retro things to see or do?

Recommended beer and food?

When I was in Stockholm for work I had one day free; Sunday.

I visited the Nationalmuseum which was amazing.

Unfortunately I didn't get time to see the Vasa Museum; which is apparently really good.

Oh, I forgot to mention.

When I stayed in Stockholm it was at the very nice Nobis Hotel

About 5 minutes walk from there, down a street near the 7 Eleven, there was a really good burger place. Unfortunately I don't know the name...

Thanks all. I stayed at the Sheraton. Sadly the museum was closed during my stay.
Had some great food at restaurant Riche and great beer at a pub called Man in the Moon. Expensive drinks though!! ??

Visit the Vasa. You won't regret it. It's as retro as you can get.

Edit: damn, didn't see you had returned.

Never been there, enjoys Scandinavian bread at times though. While googling "miss Stockholm", I found out about this compelling article from culture trip web site :

What do you consider expensive though? Drinks are always expensive in my eyes, that's where the real margins are made.

Relative to other countries, I would say is how it's meant by most people. Nordic countries are expensive in general compared to other European countries, and particularly when it comes to alcohol prices. Republic of Ireland would be pretty expensive too, though not quite as expensive as the Nordics. The UK is a bit cheaper then, and continental Europe would be cheaper again.

I thought that it was common knowledge that Sweden has most expensive alcohol in EU (if not in world)... Still remember first time hearing from a friend in his words - banks are all in glass while liquor stores are all in bars and protected.

I was about to say you should visit kumbat santa, our sweden mascot, but I see that I am late for that...

It was a great trip. The drink prices were 200sek for a glass of wine, 175sek for a glass of IPA beer so £16 and £14 respectively ????

Holy s.... I knew Sweden (and Norway) has some pretty screwed up prices on alcohol, but 175sek for a beer, that's just insane...
You might also find it "interesting" that you won't find booze in any stores, for that you have to take a trip to Systembolaget.

Here on the other side of the pond where I'm at, prices range anywhere from 18dkr to 35dkr (approx £2-4) for a bottled or draught beer at the bars I usually go to when having a night out, quite a difference I'd say.

Yikes! That's a lot more expensive than I remember! About 10 years ago I was paying around €7-8 for a beer (~400ml) in Sweden and Norway, but we were in suburbs rather than city centres so that could've been the difference.

That's... more than double of what I'm used to. I'm not really against such prices when it comes to alcohol though.

Yup, drinks are crazy prices in Stockholm just like you said DDNI.

...and as Retroplay mentioned; you won't find booze in any stores, for that you have to take a trip to Systembolaget. People rush there on a Friday afternoon to stock up for the weekend.

I spent a fortune on a Saturday night out; had like 10 x double-shot drinks over the space of 8 hours so you can imagine the final bill

After living in states for so long, I almost forgot stupidity of stores not working 24/7 or at least shorter hours on weekend.

For example, store near me is open 364 days a year, they sell everything, from food, cloth, alcohol to sports gear and home interior stuff...
