I had the strangest dream..
I'm not sure if this is the right forum but then I'm not sure what would be, so this is as good as any other I would guess.. If wrong, feel free to C+A+A me
So yeah, last night I had the strangest of dreams. The internet was awash with news of the simultaneous releases of a new and amazing version of Amiga OS (12.0.1 if I remember correctly - and why, I have no idea!) as well as the final release of a 68000 Linux distribution based on the 3.1 kernel and running Windowmaker of all things. I immediately downloaded the new Amiga OS, copied it onto a floppy and booted it on my Amiga 600 (which I do not even have, or have not ever seen except in web images; the 600 was almost never sold here, only 500 and 500+) and to my amazement what followed was a very fluid combination of blue Amiga DOS and a UI reminiscent of OS/2 Warp 3.. I then went on to start compiling the Linux kernel, which reported as would be finished in 18 hours.. so I got distracted, and the dream took me other places that I do not even remember right now. I don't really know what to make of it all, other than that it made me feel like I was 13 all over again. I can't really describe the feeling.. I'm feeling awesome, better than I felt in ages. Bless you Amiga. Making me happy 30 years later. |

That must have been some floppy to house the entire OS with user interface.

one time i had a dream about the star ship Enterprise, with the original crew, Captain Kirk and all that lot, and one of the by-products of the warp drive was braised rump steaks, so the crew would all go down to the engine room at dinner time with butterfly nets, and try to catch the steaks that were flying around the room, but Mr Spock caught a bunch of bananas instead and everybody laughed and that was the end of the dream.

the actual Amiga OS version is 42.042 beta. The final Linux distribution requires the 69000 CPU and Kick 1.3. Cheers, Rick ps: that's my dream! |
